If floyd finishes off with ortiz, khan and pac - will he have fulfilled his promise?

as an introvert, cotto wasn't much good at calling out fighters.

margarito called out floyd repeatedly, but he did it when he only really had cintron to his name. despite the 'aura' margarito built up early when making his name, he really hadn't been tested yet.

I think we just have to accept that he did retire and instead consider how he moves forward. Considering potential I really think ortiz and khan could be spectacular wins for him.

The funny thing is people talk and care about his lagacy more than he does. Most people hate him so hes not going to get the credit he deserves anyway.

I actually think he has lost interest in his legacy. He just knows the only way for him to continue to be marketable is to not loose his 0.

And he wont fight all of the above listed. Maybe 1.

I have a feeling he might take on Matinez and bypass Pac, which imo would be a pretty big move.

Ortiz has 1 win at welterweight against a commodity fodder-fed with bums. In that fight, he got knocked down twice. People are suddenly having a revelation after Berto fight.

Khan never fought as welterweight. Imagine if Khan faced Margarito who balloons close to 170 ?

I would give credit more if he faced even the present Cotto or maragrito or even Williams. These are big welterweight, not light wleterweights who had more fights at welterweight than Mayweather himself.

Doesn't really matter much what is said in an interview and "calling people out". Pryor used to call out Leonard all the time and then rejected a career high payday. Floyd answers verbal challenges when it makes business sense.

Fights are made through negotiations, and to the best of my knowledge, there were no serious negotiations when the fight would have been best, in 2008. I blame both sides for that, but Cotto gets more of a pass given his opposition level in 2008-09.

Well as I said, wins over these 3 would see floyd's resume justify my perception of his skillset.

As an aside, I would pick any active top 15 boxer above 135 to beat the hell out of margo; dude is old news now.

    Any active 135 fighter?

WTF? Margarito would only be beaten if he tries to make weight at 135. Against even Ortiz, Maidana, Berto - fighters who are not exactly 135, I would heavily favor Margarito. How about Margarito vs. JMM? Or Katsidis.

Margarito got beaten by Pac and Mosley. Not exactly opponents who are in the class or size of the earlier mentioned fighters.

Ortiz and Khan are not the goods, and never will be. No one is hiding Khan's chin. It will always be china. Ortiz will always have fragile mental state. He is like Freitas.

Beating Manny would be enough. If he beats Manny, he wouldn't have anything to prove against Khan.

Margo is rubbish mate. He's not won in nearly 3 years now. He probably will never win again, bit like shane imo. Both completely shot fighters now.

Going round in circles here but as I say, you clearly rate floyd higher than me and will not be satisfied with this trio of victories. Because I have lower expectations than you regarding floyd I would be happy with this trio. Beating the two best welterweights and the best lww will definitely satisfy me.

What would he have to do for you to put him as #1?

Well to put into perspective, sam langford started at the same weight floyd did, beat better people there and rose threw the weights knocking out the heavyweight number 1 contender.

Floyd can hit top ten if he does the above and beats martinez but after that we're talking insanity: beating s6 winner, beating hopkins, beating vitali etc.

Fortunately for sam he grew into these weights but the thought of floyd facing vitali is too ridiculous to comprehend.

Mayweather would easily beat all three of them.

Khan keeps using Mayweather's name to promote himself, but he's a coward and knows he wants no part of Mayweather right now, because he would get destroyed.

How many young WWs did FLoyd face?

I think all 3 have a shot at beating Floyd.

Then his true legacy will be clear.
