If Floyd had lost any of his fights, how big of a shock would it have been?

When Rousey got her rude smug self destroyed and humiliated yesterday, it was hailed as one of the biggest shocks in sporting history.

Which got me to thinking. If Floyd had lost any of his fights would it have been as big as a shock as last night or as Tyson/Douglas? My answer is no, which suggests that Floyd always did actually fight the best.

    Discuss.

Lol if you really believed that about Honda then you need to take a step back

Floyd lost to Castillo. After that i cant remember him taking a risk in his entire career

A Floyd loss wouldnt have come close to what Buster did to Mike or what Juan did to Manny

No the reason is that Tyson-Douglas was one of those upsets that were so shocking, so unbelievable that nothing else compares. After Tyson Douglas, ANYTHING is possible.

It went to show Tyson wasnt all he was hyped up to be

He was never a truly proven ATG, just someone with a monster rep

Id be more shocked if GGG or Kovalev got handled that way than a massive hype machine like Tyson

I'd say Oscar DLH was the last risk Floyd took. He moved up in weight for the Oscar money and a chance to become a star. After that, it was the paths of least resistance.

Since many people, myself included, think Floyd should have lost two or three fights, it wouldn't have been a shock at all.

Judges being on the level in the first Castillo fight. That would have been a shock.

Floyd losing, not so much. He was very close a couple of times, and he was never seen as untouchable like Tyson back in the day.
He's a points boxer, not a destruction machine. His opponents didn't have to fear him, just invited to share the ring with him.

Fluid already lost, what's new about it. Getting a gift decision from a paid judges doesn't really mean you won.

    Since the Hoya fight Mayweather has fought;
Six #1 rated fighter, 5 possible HOFers, 2 lineal champions, 9 world champions, if thats the path of least resistance name someone who was doing something better.

fighters make a belt, the belt doesn't make the fighter... carlos baldomir and ricky hatton aren't good.... neither is victor ortiz, or robert guerrero

Between the 4 you have an Unbeaten P4P Undisputed JWW Champ & former WW Champ, a 2x World Champ(FW/SFW) & 2x Titlist(LW/WW) unbeaten 8 yrs through 3 divisions going in also P4P rated, a Undisputed WW Champ who was unbeaten in the last decade going in also fought top fighters from 147-68 afterwards, and finally a future exposed hypejob who was coming off a FOTY going in as the #3 rated WW & WBC Champ.

Baldomir was #1WW, Hatton #1JWW,Ortiz & Guerrero #3WWs rated behind only Pac&PBF. 3/4 ain't to bad especially when the one is as good or better a victory then anyone else is doing.
