:deal I can't see how people gave that fight to De La Hoya. Mayweather was out boxing him in the middle of the ring and when Oscar got Mayweather to the ropes he didn't land. The Castillo fight was close as hell. I had a 2 point win for Mayweather last time I watched it.

yep, hoya should have won it terms of effective pressure and number of hard punches connected. one judge actually saw the way it should have been seen:yep

I can understand if you were new to boxing, and that was one of the first bouts you had seen. You would have seen Mayweather going backwards whilst De La Hoya tried to throw combinations on the ropes. But, yeah...clear decision for Mayweather.

The Castillo bout, I had Mayweather winning by a point I believe...but I have scored it a draw aswell.

Not at all. DLH did apply effective pressure, but not enough to win 7 rounds. Flurries at the end of a round don't win you the round.

Go rewatch the bout. Mayweather wasn't as accurate as he usually was, but he did enough to win.

He was out boxing De La Hoya. That is why De La Hoya was trying to get Mayweather to the ropes. In the center of the ring it was easy work for Mayweather. If you pay attention, every round went exactly the same. Mayweather would start off out boxing De La Hoya in the center of the ring. De La Hoya would try to off set Floyd with his jab and once Floyd was close to the ropes he would tee off and land nothing. Same thing over and over again. Get out boxed in the center of the ring and when Mayweather got close to the ropes tee off on him.

You mean this 'pity potshot work'?

Pay particular attention to the last gif...makes DLH miss, lands with the clean, effective work...buckles DLH's legs with a perfect counter. It was this type of work that won him the bout.

Mayweather never fought for a vacant belt, moved up in weight and fought champions of the weight class in each division and defeated them. Today people fight for vacant belts as they move up. Defend it vs average comp and then try and leverage that for a big money fight.

Also the problem is when Mayweather wanted a fight with Prince at 130, Prince wanted nothing to do with it. When he wanted Mosley at 130-135. Mosley jumped up in weight to fight DLH. When Mayweather moved up to 140, and beat Gatti who he had to beg for a fight with by flat out disrespecting him, even though Gatti was the bigger stronger man. Hatton and Cotto claimed they weren't ready rather then stepping up to the challenge. Tzyu was with showtime. You had Moralez, Barrera, Pac killing themselves to make 130 when they could have been fighting at 135-140 and been in the mix as well for a big fight. Mayweather was fighting at 140 while weighing 140. When Mayweather moved up to 147, Mosley wanted to go on vacation and DLH decided to make Mayweather wait for yrs for the fight. Yet with Pacquiao, DLH jumped at the chance to fight him immediately. Margarito wanted Mayweather, but Baldomir was a better option since he had the linear title and offer'd slightly more money.
