If Floyd is down big on the cards, will he go for the KO and risk it all?

Watch the Judah fight, how Mayweather turns it up and starts coming forward after the slip.

Or immediately after Mosley lands big, in that very same round, Mayweather starts stepping towards him.

He would go for the KO. Floyd's biggest fear is losing.

Floyd has a bad habit of not going for KOs even though he could very well get one. However, Floyd always turns it up when someone get the best of him. He hardly ever let someone win a round on him.

When mayweather had a torn left rotator cuff, seemingly (if one listens to the HBO commentary) beyond in his fight against Castillo, in the later rounds fought in Castillo's chest and showed amazing infighting skills -- was parrying, and all. I remember Merchant commenting on this feat, and floyds diversity in that fight and going for it.

Mayweathers toughness is underrated. Floyd hates to be embarassed. If you clip him hard he wants payback badly.

Technically, he (should have been) down big on the cards in his first bout with Castillo and he didn't go for the knock-out then so my answer is a resounding 'NO'

Yes he would go for broke if it ever came down to it.

I'm not the biggest Floyd fan out there but even I will admit that he is ultra competitive. Whenever he gets hit with a big shot or is losing momentum he always finds a way to answer back and fight harder, and that is something I have always respected him for. Mayweather is a slick boxer but far from the scared runner that most casual fans label him as.

Floyd knows what it takes to win, and does it!

    A genius in the ring.

He can not go for the KO because his hand gets injured in almost every single fight. I forgot when was the first time it happened I think it was at 130, but after that fight basically Floyd can not use his right hand with conviction for the entire 12 rounds of a fight. He can use it for 12 rounds, but not with bad intentions. As we saw with the Guerrero fight, I think it was round 7 where he hurt it after landing it so many times and snapping Guerrero's head back over 10 times.

Some one correct me if i'm wrong but this was also his problem in the Mosley and Marquez fights? At one point in both fights, it looked like Mayweather was about to stop both fighters, or at least got both fights to the point where Nacho and Richardson, respectively, asked their fighter if they want to stop the fight. Then all of a sudden Floyd looked like he was "coasting" and people thought he purposely took it easy on them, when it was just that he hurt his right hand.

its difficult to envision the situation but to say hed take the loss is crazy.

anyone who has ever stepped foot in the ring will aprieciate the dedication, commitment and will to win that floyd has. you dont get to be ranked no.1 in the world (p4p) without having an incredible will to win. floyd hates losing a round, if he was down on the cards you can bet he'd give his all to win, no way would he take a loss knowing he could of tried harder. i cant think of a fighter who could ever be miles ahead on a score card against floyd now? even if there was i dont think floyd would ever let a fighter get that far ahead, hed probably scrap a bit to make the rounds look more scrappy and even or hed resort to 'stealing rounds' like sugar ray leonard.

If floyd ever needed a KO hed be in huge trouble, hes got power but naturally hes not really an offense come forward fighter.

Yes floyd is well know for having hand trouble but to say he physically cant hit hard for long periods of time is, i believe, false. i think its more of a 'why risk damaging my hand further when im winning?' over a 'i cant hit hard anymore lets just try and last the fight'.

Floyds hand trouble is constant i think thats why glove choice is always included in his fight demands as he needs gloves (cant remember the make) which have better protection for his hands and wrist, well according to ring magazine.

no doubt if floyd felt he needed a KO hed go for it regardless of his hand possibly getting injury, just whats the point in damaging his most important tool just to get the fans a little happier?

Down big??? did you even watched the fight?

Floyd won the first 5 rounds rather easily. 3 swings rounds with Castillo rallied late. With a torn muscle and didn't quit showed his fighting spirit.
