If Floyd isn't the draw vs Pacman, why is everyone calling for the fight?

    Wanting the fight doesn't mean Floyd is the draw . . . it is to settle the issue of who is the real p4p #1 . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

Its stupid to compare Floyd vs ODH to Pacman vs ODH pay-per-view numbers because one is before the recession and the other is during the height of the recession. I bet Pac v ODH would have gotten better numbers if it wasn't for the recession.

What separates Pac fans & PBF fans.

PBF fans are happy with "thinking" PBF can beat "_________"(insert name here)

Pac fans want to see Pac show it in the ring. I remember a lot of hardcore *******s almost turning their back on Pac back when it was time for Pac-JMM2 but Arum was mentioning all these other name. Including myself I was getting very pissed off, I wanted the fight...fortunately we got it.

Thats how PBF fans should be. It seems their content with thinking PBF beats Pac, Shane etc...so in their fantasy world they can claim PBF is the best boxer h2h.

First I wanna say you're an idiot. We want the fight to happen because it would be interesting to see them fight. Their styles are completely opposite. Defense vs Offense. We (boxing fans and casual fans) don't care about the money.

Money has nothing to do with it. The purse matters to Manny and Floyd but it shouldn't matter to the fans they're not the one receiving it. If Floyd was such big draw he wouldn't have to fake an injury and move the fight to a Mexican holiday. Nor do they need to spend 20 million to promote a fight.

Here you go with fantasies again...

Floyd couldnt pull off much over 1mil fighting mexicos best fighter on mexican independance day with 11mil mexicans in US spending 13mil in promotions...you expect him to do 2mil fighting Cotto whos whole country puerto rico has a pop of 3.6mil?

Pac-JMM 3 would do 3mil buys I guarantee that. Quuite a fun game...

DLH-Mayweather sold what it sold cuz of Hoya, not Mayweather. Most people in US were rooting for DLH in that one. Whoever doesn't acknowledge this deludes themselves imo. Mayweather's boxing style simply is not as exciting as Pac's for the average Joe type of fan.

And if Mayweather fans use the Floyd-JMM numbers as supposed "proof" of Mayweather's drawing power then they are wrong because a great many of those buys were from Mexicans rooting for JMM. You could even argue that it was JMM who was the draw there, if only for being an elite Mexican fighting on a major Mexican holiday.

First I wanna say your first line is great. It made me laugh alot. Of course us "fans" want to see the fight, because you have 2 P4P greats in their primes. Im simply making comments about those speaking who should get how much and why, which is ultimately of no concern to me since I get none of it. Where it concerns the fans though, is when you have a "business man" first and boxer second in Floyd, this fight has the potential of not happening because the "business" side of it may not work out. The idea of 50-50 is not realistic when you look at the numbers that Floyd has done. It makes perfect sense if you look at the fighters accomplishments and where they are both at now, but when you look at why this fight will be so big if it can be made, its ultimately more so because of Floyd, hence the higher percentage he will look to negotiate. Numbers-wise, I just dont see how you can argue that he is not the greater draw in terms of PPV and interest. How does this affect me and why do I care? Well if Pac team/promoter is not realistic about who the bigger draw is, then the fight is not going to happen because Floyd has made it very clear, $$$ first and legacy second.

I didnt dream. stocks and shares rise and fall, just as fighters marketability. Your only as good as your last figures. Fact - Pac-Cotto grossed 70mil, PBF-JMM grossed 50mil.

Your the one dreaming pulling random numbers out of your ass...PBF-Cotto does 2mil..base on what? PBF-Hatton did 900k ffs.

of course the fight needs floyd. but how sharp must you be to see it needs pacquiao as much.
looks very obviously that you are choosing a side and failing to hide your bias.
"look, i'm a pacfan, and don't particularly care for floyds personality or fightstyle.".... yeah and i got a bridge for sale i want you to take a look at.

The Hoya argument I used to agree with when it was just Hoya that Floyd had fought and had huge PPV #'s. But then Hatton and now JMM and his numbers have been big, thinking theres a trend there when Floyd fights:huh
Otherwise, Hatton and JMM should have been cleaning up PPV against other fighters, and they never did. Only vs Floyd did they. Hoya is the only one that did huge numbers on his own (and of course hes been the biggest money draw in boxing since Tyson).

Look, people dont like Floyd (self included), hes the villian. It doesnt discredit the fact that more people (especially the public and casual fan) will pay to see him fight whomever at this point compared to Pac.

Everyone is calling for the fight because we're talking about the number 1 and number 2 p4p fighters here. The opportunity for 1 and 2 p4p to fight doesn't come along often in boxing. I wouldn't go as far to say that Mayweather isn't the draw...I think it may be about equal. Bottom line is, Pacquiao is the biggest name Floyd could fight right now, and vice versa.

Yeah, his point was clearly understood.

Those who want to see Floyd win = 100 people

Those who want to see Floyd lose = 2,999,900 people

Those who want to see Pacquiao lose = 100 people

Those who want to see Pacquiao win = 2,999,900 people

I truly dont care for Floyd and am a much bigger fan of Pac. However, I find myself buying his PPV and watching, no matter how boring I think he is. HBO 24/7 is the most entertaining and has the best episodes with Floyd, even though he comes across so arrogant and disrespectful. Just how it is. He sells, he knows how to trash talk and carry himself to be noticed to sell, and it works. If Floyd chose to fight Hatton next, no matter how gay I might think that is and what a lame fight it would be, I would still buy it out of curiousity. And the promotion for that by him would make alot of other people buy it as well. Just how it is.
