If Floyd loses to Ortiz, will he go the Hamed route or the Barrera route?

Before meeting Junior Jones, Marco Antonio Barrera was 43-0 and a pound-for-pound ranked world champion.

Before meeting Marco Antonio Barrera, Naseem Hamed was 35-0 and a pound-for-pound ranked world champion.

Barrera suffered two defeats to Jones, one inside the distance and one on points, and was so disillusioned he considered retirement.

Hamed suffered defeat to Barrera, a convincing defeat on points, and was so disillusioned he considered retirement.

10 months after his second loss to Jones, Barrera returned to the ring. He went on to win further world titles at superbantam, feather and superfeather, win a legendary trilogy with ATG Erik Morales 2-1, and beat fighters such as Naseem Hamed, Paulie Ayala and Johnny Tapia.

11 months after his loss to Barrera, Hamed returned to the ring. After a lacklustre points win, Hamed gave up on his boxing career.

Which route is Mayweather most likely to take if he loses, will he come back better for it and regain world titles, or will he lose heart and retire?

    :bbb

Hamed route, Floyd looks bored with boxing as well, he always gives the impression that he only does it for the big payday but he rather would do something else, same with ortiz by the way.
If floyd lost his ego probably couldnt handle it, so how does he react then? fight on to prove it was a fluke and he is still strong or retire when he knows he isnt at his 100% game anymore? retirement is the best choice.

    this forum is something! lol:rofl

average esb user's analytical abilities illustrated in quotes:

-pacquiao is the greatest fighter ever
    -mayweather' defense is overated
    -pacquiao would easily beat srr
-pacquiao had a better perfomance against mosley than mayweather

If Ortiz is Maidana's *****, then doesn't that make Junior Jones the ***** of Darryl Pinckney (18-18-2), who stopped Junior in 3 rounds in '94? :huh

As usual, Knowledge >>> Troll :smoke

I think he`s a bit old physically to go the Barrera route but I also think he`s too strong mentally to fold as badly as Hamed.

I can see him actually making the danger fights that the fans have been waiting for such as immediate Ortiz rematch, Pacquiao, Martinez in order to try make up for not being `undefeated` as he likes to stutter on about at times.

However... Ortiz is in for a schooling, he doesnt have the technique to be in the ring with a boxing artist like Mayweather, who is IMO the most talented boxer since Pernell Whitaker.

Not really because if its more of a fluke rather than age that catches up to FMJ (if he were to lose vs Ortiz) then I see him coming back & beating Ortiz, Pacquiao & Martinez... I think he`s better than all of those guys, personally.
