If Floyd loses to Ortiz, will he go the Hamed route or the Barrera route?

Neither would be comparable, MAB was about 22 and at the beggining of his championship career, Hamed 27, Mayweather is currently 34. If he loses it would be for 2 reasons, first he got old, second because Ortiz is better than we thought. I do think he'd try and comeback in an immediate rematch though, depending on how he'd lose

BTW part of the reason Hamed retired was because he couldn't agree a deal with HBO and was getting death threats after 9/11. That and he couldn't be bothered anymore. He clearly looked a faded force in his comeback against Calvo

I'd say a better question is 'Does he go the Bernard Hopkins route or the Roy Jones route as he gets older'

wasnt hamed loaded with cash when he lost to barrera? I get it though, if youre bored with the game why continue and pick up more losses.

Barerra or Hamed routes?? Very bad poll Mary Popkins.

I personal opinion is he will go the "Mayweather route!"
He will beat Ortiz, then (hopefully) Pac, then Khan... Then retire undisputed undefeated!
And all you guys can go rambling on how he cherrypicked and criticize his blimished undefeated career. TC

Don't take that too literally, I don't mean "do the exact same thing as Barrera, ie fight on for another decade", I just mean that Barrera came back stronger and achieved great things. If Mayweather came back from a loss and beat Ortiz, Pacquiao, maybe even Martinez, then obviously that would count as the "Barrera route" as opposed to the Hamed route of losing heart and retiring without regaining any of his previous glory.

I would say Floyd would fight again when he needed the money.

I was always hoping he'd comeback, although JMM (or his manager) did turn down career high money for the fight
