manny Pac lost to Bradley , but still went on to do way over a million ppv buys in his next fight.

Same with Oscar, it wouldn't matter how many times he lost

Now with Floyd, do you think he'd remain a hge PPV star if he lost his next fight, or would all his fans move on to another underfeasted like a broner or someone.
And is all his marketability based around being undefeasted.

are you saying it was stereated as a win which is why it never affected his ratings.

Do you think his future ratings will be affected now that he lost to marquez.

    Yes for one reason

PEOPLE WOULD LIKE TO SEE IF HE COULD RECOVER...LIKE PACQUIAO, ROY JONES OR NASSEM HAMED....HOPKINS BEFORE THE PAVLIK FIGTH

It would be a chance to prove his greatness...

He might become a bigger ppv star. I remember seeing a Tyson interview where he said he earns more after losing because there was more intrigue.

Yes I am clearly saying that the robbery didn't have that much of an affect in general interest, look at this PPV numbers with Marquez in their fourth encounter.

That said, a great fighter coming off a legitimate loss will always attract more fans. People are intrigued to see how a great fighter performs after a serious loss(Marquez 4 being a good example in this case), if he loses again after that then the interest, as far as headlining major events is concerned, slowly goes down since fans get the idea that the fighter is finished/affected.

Now, if he lost he'd lose a huge chunk of drawing power.

He's used that 0 as a huge part of his self marketing. '44 have tried' etc

Ironically, if he'd of lost to Castillo all those years ago, and then went on to win the re-match and fight guys like Cotto, Margarito and Williams at 147; he could be just as big now, and much more popular.

Then again, he's undefeated and made MASSIVE money so really there's no argument against him.

Depends on the matter in which he lost.

If he got knocked out by a fluke punch, people would be excited to see the rematch.

He would make bank on the rematch. So yes. But if he lost twice in a row, then he'd lose money for sure. Would probably retire at that point anyway.

Yes. That's all anti-Floyd fans really want in the end, for Floyd to lose. After he loses, anti-Floyd fans will show more respect to him, just because he finally lost. People just love losers, underdogs, and guys on the come back trail.

If you notice, every fighter that came from the bottom and is now at the top, were hyped up and loved when they were unpopular. Then when they became popular and even fight better opposition than when they were unpopular, they get hated on. Some people don't like to see others have ultimate success like Floyd [Undefeated, richest athlete in the sport]. Mayweather, Calzaghe and Marciano to a lesser extent, all 3 of these guys are pretty much hated and they all have something in common. They are undefeated. People will try to convince themselves that "they didn't fight any one", but that is utter bullsh-t and something you would only see in boxing.

If an NFL team go 16-0, they would be praised as being dominant and great. In boxing if you go undefeated you get sh-tted on for the most part.

Sure you have your clowns like Sven Ottke, who's falsely undefeated. But guys like Mayweather, Calzaghe, Marciano are/were the real deal.

But yeah, Floyd would still be very popular if he loses. People would be smart enough to notice that he is 36, not 26 and undefeated record can not last forever. Although it's hard to deny that Floyd's "0" is possibly the biggest selling point of his PPV's. It definitely makes for good discussions for pre fight hype and the "Who can beat him?" angle never gets old for promotion.
