Every man, woman and child would have labeled him a quitter.

    There i said it.

I like cotto, but to me, if you are concious and still able to fight, and are clear headed enough to choose not to, thats quitting.

I'm not here to argue the point, thats just my two cents

thats the problem ...floyd ran into retirement instead of fighting either of them...

he's a quitter already ha! ... let me break your jaw and nose and see how long you can take me pounding on you ... duran quit ...cotto couldn't continue

Just out of curiosity McGrain what do you think cotto did?

You really dont think he was cleared headed enough to be able to continue?

Beating aside, quitting is quitting. I mean, when Buster douglas was beating the crap out of tyson did he stay down or take a knee? Hell no, he tried to get up! And he took a worse ass kicking then cotto

To me, thats the diffence between a warrior and an also ran, but each to there own.

Cotto was broken. Margarito found the bottom of his heart.

Every fighter has a breaking point.

Cotto is no Jimmy Braddock, but he's not exactly heartless. The towel came in, it was the right call.

No, I don't think Cotto was able to continue, I think he was a broken man.

He couldn't, or he chose not to??

I am a cotto fan, but come on man. To me, he could have continued but had straight up had enough.

    What utter utter nonsense.

Why do us fans of boxing always have to get dragged into the Fanboy Playground? The tit-for-tat that goes on in here really is embarrassing.

Plenty of idiots in here have been saying Cotto is a quitter ever since Evangelista Cotto jumped up on the apron to end the contest, so I don't see the point of this thread for a start. Had it been Mayweather, the same portion of idiots from the other side of the fence in the Fanboy Playground would be doing the same.

I am not a fan of Cotto or Mayweather, but a fan of boxing.

Miguel Cotto is a warrior who fought bravely and was punched to a standstill. Had the same thing happened to Mayweather, delete the name Miguel Cotto from that sentence and replace it with Floyd Mayweather. That's called objectivity. Maybe you've heard of it.

True boxing fans respect boxers and respect their efforts. I guess they don't teach that at Fanboy Academy.

    Grow up.

Just to clarify, you realize that the corner threw in the towel, right?

I will say what is usually said here about a boxer after a devastating loss.

Cotto is shot, he's a bum, he should retire.

Not that I believe it but I will just follow the trend.

If Cotto's corner let the fight continue it would have been a KO. Cotto himself realised this and therefore didnt argue with the call. If there is a rematch, Cotto would have a better chance of winning as he knows he has to go to the body rather than trying to KO someone that pretty much cant be hurt

To say he quit is complete rubbish to be honest. He had a busted eye, a busted nose and a busted jaw. He was taking a beating and was a broken man, he got put down twice before the corner threw in the towel. His corner stopped the fight, he didn't quit.

yea but quitting once doesn't make you a quitter.

Also there are different levels of quitting. Its not so black and white.

Quitting in round 11 against a guy who is has been beating you up since round 7 is not that big a deal and does not make someone a quitter. Margarito had already taken all of Cotto's best punches and shrugged them off. At that point Cotto was tired, bloody, and unable to recover, with over a minute left in the round after 2 knockdowns. He was barely even able to throw a punch and MArgarito was on him like flies on ****. It was either quit or get knocked out a few seconds later

Also, alot of people feel that Floyd retiring with so many big matchups to be made is quitting as well.

To those who say Cotto's corner threw in the towel and that Cotto didn't quit, rewatch the fight, Cotto signaled to his corner to throw in the towel
