If Floyd refuses to fight Cotto and retires

I agree too...

I would love to see Cotto do it but I think he would get picked off at range, especailly if Mayweather started to throw the jab with any regularity.

 

ask yourself this, has Arum made a serious offer to Mayweather to put this fight on??? Did Cotto call out Mayweather after his last fight???

So who is scared of who???? Look at what David Haye did this weekend to try and get the fight he wants, look at what Hatton did to get the Mayweather fights, look at what Calzaghe did to get Hopkins. Do you see Cotto pushing for the Mayweather fight????? No!

It will be Cottos legacy that should be hurt if he doesn't fight Mayweather, not the other way round.

Mayweather also called out Cotto 3 years ago and Arum and Cotto said no way!


Cotto is the perfect style for a current Mayweather, Mayweather will counter the **** out of him all night.

Ask this once Mayweather beats Cotto who will people ask for next???

 

This is THE fight that has to happen.

 

Arum doesn't want Cotto anywhere near Floyd and Cotto is never going to walk out on Arum if he doesn't get a fight with Floyd. Cotto says the same robotoic 'i'll fight anyone bob arum puts in front of me' speach after every fight. Cotto has to be chasing Mayweather for Mayweather to duck him. If Cotto and his people really want Mayweather then they can shout a lot louder.

Arum want's Mayweather to fight Cotto.. Why do you think he's insulting Floyd and trying to get them into the ring?

Everybody brings up the "Why doesn't Cotto ever call Floyd out?" Why doesn't Floyd ever say anything about him? What abouyt that interview after the Hatton fight when he was asked about Cotto and his response was, "I'm not gonna' let boxing retire me, I'm gonna' retire from boxing." It would be a lot better if Cotto would just call him out, but by now it's pretty obvious who everybody wants them to fight.. Let the fans call him out.. Let Arum call him out.. Everybody is calling them out and Cotto's not the kind of guy to talk **** or call anybody out..

 

Every single person who thinks one fighter has to call out or insult another fighter to get a fight are ridiculous. Do any of you actually think that Floyd doesn't see Cotto is his biggest threat at 147, or that this is the fight fans are clamoring for? No way Cotto or any other top fighter should have to jump thru hoops to prove he's the best.

Wrong. Cotto is the one fighting all the best available to him. Floyd is picking and choosing money matches. THAT, is what people are going to remember.

Cotto was still green. This is a non issue when discussing the here and now.

If Mayweather wins the fight, so be it. But fight the best instead of trying to fleece the public with a bunch of BS. As far as who the people will ask for next? As long as Floyd want to be called the best hes going to have to fight the best. There will be someone else down the road should he survive cotto or Margarito.

 

mayweather is already an ATG even if he didn't fight cotto. Most people would have him in their top 50 ATG list. A win over cotto moves him higher on the list

 

Mayweather is stalling to make the fight bigger, just like he did vs Dela Hoya or Spinks did vs Tyson..... it's a classic promoter's trick.

Trust me, the fight will be made. I just hope Cotto doesn't lose before that.

 

I would have Floyd much higher than top 50 to be honest.

And no, failure to fight Miguel Cotto does nothing to change this. Cotto is an excellent fighter, but for people to deride a guy who is 39-0, excellent CV, five weight world champ, rarely looked like losing - it's all a bit much.

Cotto is the fight me (and most others) would like to see, but at this stage of his career Floyd is only interested in MEGA money fights - and Cotto isn't a mega money fight, albeit a big money one. The biggest fights (financially) for Floyd are rematches with Oscar De La Hoya and Ricky Hatton.

A win over Cotto would do plenty for his legacy, but not fighting him would not tarnish it.

i really think if cotto beats margo then mayweather will be his next test.if not havin the whole country pr behind you enough then i dont know what the hell is.
