Rob, Are you a Hatton fanboy? I would place Mayweather in the top 20 post war fighters, without question. Boxing is a totally different game to how it used to be, therefore comparing eras is very difficult. Cotto doesn't have the fanbase that Hatton has - selling 55000 tickets for Lazcano in no time, I would be surprised if anyone could match that.
margarito is the most dangerous welter cott should be worried he's not gonna runn from cotto setting up that left hook while he's coming forward margos coming forward to and don't look at that paul williams fight as a barometer because he's gonna kill quitana this time and he's the only welter that can keep margo at bay cintron ran away to much opening his self up to big shots floyd doesn't want margo or paul williams to big both have good chins margo might have a glen johnson type chin potshots won't work . so before we ask for cotto vs money cotto gotta get past tony a straight animal
Floyd is already an ATG......But I think if he retires without taking on that "big challenge" that Cotto is supposed to be than I think it hurts his 'legendary' mystique if you know what I mean.
Dont people remember that when Floyd fought Diego Corrales he was an underdog and many thought he was gonna lose also while i think Mayweather is ducking Cotto, Cotto isnt excatly going out to try and make the fight either both are to blame and the rematch with Oscar is pathetic.
The Cotto match will happen - the Hatton match had been brewing for 2 1/2 years and was always going to happen, the little jibe on HBO after Castillo had **** all to do with it! I would say middle to late next year for Cotto, another two or three good wins, rather than tomato cans like Gomez (a silly step back IMO) will see him land the matchup, and lose his 0.
Mayweather will fight him but if Arum is serious about making the fight happen then he would have made an offer. He can insult a fighter and say he is ducking Cotto all he wants but when no offer has been made to the man then his credibility on this particular subject should be questioned.
Cotto doesn't hold the key to all time greatness ... If i'm not mistaken ... there was a thread talking about how Cotto had the lowest rated WCB card. He's fighting guys that haven't done anything in recent years - yet he's getting all the credit in the world. I don't think that he deserves such high reguard ... PBF doesn't need him ... Cotto just stepped on to the scene - while PBF has been doing this since 98.
