You can add Cocoa Kid if you want. Still, it seems most of the guys Robinson is criticized for "ducking", the Black Murderers Row, were bigger guys. I know fights between middleweights and welterweights were more common then and guys moved up and down the weight, but it also seemed as if Robinson just arrived at middleweight too late for a lot of these guys.
Kinda like you said he was scared shitless of Hatton and you picked Hatton to beat PBF, do I have to embarrass you further? I owned your ass during the PBF-Hatton build up the nerve of you saying PBF is scared of another fighter after he proved your dumbass wrong.:-(
Why cant people just answer the threads question? The thread starter asked would Floyd still be an ATG if he didnt fight Cotto. Rather than answering, people want to say I think Cotto would win or I think Floyd would win, etc.....But they never answer the question. Anyways, Floyd is already definitely an ATG. At the current moment, he is at best probably top 30. Fighting Cotto would probably get him into to 15-20 easily. Unfortunately b/c boxing has become too business oriented, I dont believe many fighters of this generation and later will ever get into the top 10 b/c of the lack of level of competition. Fighters no longer fight ALL of the best fighters in their division. Unless Floyd decides to clean out an entire division, that means fighting Cotto and the other top welters, he will NEVER be top 10 b/c despite the belts he has won, his level of competition when compared to fighters of the 80's and earlier is not even close.
I couldn't answer the question even though the answer is obvious. The thread starter is mad at PBF for beating the brakes off of his hero Hatton and is trying to discredit him since his boy couldn't back up the **** he talked in december.
There's always somebody trying to downplay Floyd everyday on this site without even knowing the full facts and what's really going on. They just talk like they know and assume it's him being scared totally unaware that boxing is a business first and a Cotto fight simply doesn't make much sense right now. It's really pathetic:-(
I feel you Pimp. I'm sure the thread starter knew he would start another Cotto vs Floyd thread. Dont get me wrong, i'm a huge Cotto fan and want to see the fight more than anything. I'm one of the people who are pissed at floyd for not demanding this fight, etc.... but i wont sit here and say that he is not an ATG. despite what i think about his level of competition since he entered 140, you still cant deny what he has done. he has earned a spot as an ATG. however, i'm not going to be all on his nuts saying he is top 10. people are way too caught up in the fact that floyd has gotten so many titles. but the fact is that today's competition doesnt quite stand up to the competition back then. being undefeated is great, but it doesnt mean much unless you have GREAT victories. For all Floyd has done and for the tremendous talent he has, the only TRULY GREAT performances were against a c-class fighter in Gatti and a B+/A- fighter in Corrales. Yes, he beat other good fighter, but they were not performances that transcended him into top 10 ATG status. This is why he must fight Cotto. He must prove to everyone that he can put on a GREAT performance against a great fighter. Forget all this safe bull****. Show everyone what you are capable of. He has the fastest hands in boxing today. So he needs to use them. Lastly, if he is going to fight lesser opponents besides Cotto, then he needs to starch their asses in the ring. Great fighters do not carry their opponents 12 rounds. I'll admit, FLoyd is the man as far as talent, but what good is it if he doesnt display it each time he gets in the ring? There is a lot more that I can say, but I'm sure everyone has heard it all. Just my 2 cents.
No, he would still be an all time great, but he wouldn't be as high as he could be with a victory against Cotto.
Wowwwwwwwwwwwww! I hope this is a joke. You have sugar ray leonard & robinson, ali, benitez, chavez, duran, hearns, etc... You cant be serious.
