Yes, but he didn't have a multiple-division reign the way Mayweather has. I think Mayweather's failure to ever really clean out a division hurts him somewhat, but he has still beaten multiple pound-for-pound elite fighters. Marciano beat Moore and Charles, who were pound-for-pound elite guys at the time, and a number of guys who were top heavyweights, but wouldn't make pound-for-pound lists. Mayweather has several wins over pound-for-pound elites himself (Corrales, De La Hoya, Hatton), along with a fair few guys who were major names in their own divisions (Baldomir, Gatti, Judah), but weren't "pound-for-pound" giants. At this point, Mayweather's accomplishments are in league with Marciano's.

The differnce Marciano cleaned out the Heavys and there was no one left he fought Ezzard Charles twice took the challenge from Archie Moore fought the best talent of that time. PBF still has 3 or 4 guys that can present a greater realistic challenge than was Hatton

Marciano had 10 fights more, in an era with only one belt per champ and was a heavyweight his entire career.

The only thing they have in common is the '0' at the end of their record.

Floyd isn't even Ricardo Lopez let alone the Rock.

Fraud seeked out guys like Gatti (for the money) and Mitchel. . . its his fault.

Then when a guy like Margarito offers the money .. . .he changes his motivation and it aint about the money anymore. :patsch

Fraud called out Winky only to run scared when Wink says - lets do it.

Fraud deserves credit for his work at 135, but ever since then - its cherry picking - anyone can see this much.

10 more fights, but how many contenders has he actually beat. 34 of his 49 wins were complete tomato scrubs.

It's too bad nobody let Jersey Joe know there was a fix, there had to have been plenty of easier ways to throw a fight than to have your jaw nearly knocked around to the back of your head

If Floyd never fought again, he would, without question, be mentioned in the same breath as Marciano.

Mayweather is better than Marciano already, to start of with unlike Rocky, Lil Floyd is unbeaten as a pro.;)

As for all time Great, as I have said before there are probably only two of them Muhammad Ali and Ray Robinson. Floyd may one day be a Great, but he is has left it far too late to be an all time Great.

Really... explain why Muhammad Ali is an all-time great, but, say, Henry Armstrong, Harry Greb, Archie Moore or Roberto Duran aren't.

Not least 3/4 of the world have heard of Ali, despite the fact he has not fought for 26 years. We may know Armstrong, Greb, Duran etc, but we are hardcore boxing supporters. They are Great fighters, but unlike Ali they will not be all time greats, as they have been forgotten by the mainstream and thus may be forgotten in due course by the hardcore.

Even an Ali or Robinson may in due course be forgotten, and we may never have an all time great, but they are closest boxing has got.
