If Floyd ko's DLH in their rematch what would you guys think? Would he still be regarded as a paper champion by half of ESB'ers? Will he provoke the anger DLH provoked by his Tko's of JCC or Camacho's sad dismantling of Leonard? I personally would change much of my attitude towards Floyd (following a shock at seeing my childhood hero ko'd by a smaller boxer) but then would definately give him the edge over Cotto and hope and pray for that fight to come through. I would give DLH his props though for being great over the years.
The same as I would if he won a 8-4 type decision like last time. A great fighter, but this win doesn't do much at all for his all-time standing.
it would go a long ways towards cementing Floyd's legacy in the minds of fans but i dont think itll happen. I havent really been impressed by his power at 154 and i suspect he will run and potshot for another horribly boring fight
He won't though! Not to disrespect Floyd but he hasn't shown that he is willing to take the risks necessary to knock a top opponent like DLH out.
DLH is not gonna jump in like Hatton did, he'll do just enogh to lose a somewhat close decision . . .enough for Manny, Larry and Jim to praise his "effort" blah blah blah.
if he did it would definitely be impressive b/c it would show that he can knock out people who arent smaller than him. the only problem is that theres not really anyone for him to fight at 154 and all of the best fights are at 147 where everyone wants to see him test his mettle
well "what if" Fraud grew enogh balls to fight either Cotto or Margarito? not much chance of that happening either.
What if DLH wins by knockout? What would it do to Money Mays legacy? What I mean is this guy is almost a celebrity joke....Dancing with the stars, WWE, and now he looses to a part time boxer! Just something to think about
Plenty of ATGs weren't big KO punchers. Big deal if Mayweather wins another 8-4 decision or somehow looks like an 88' Tyson and stops DLH in early and brutal fashion. It doesn't mean all that much in the long run in terms of his all-time standing. Beating Cotto, on the other hand, does.
Yeah, but don't you think a Hoya ko will give Floyd some confidence in letting punches go? The fight with Cotto will be much better for it. He would also know that if he could take down a fighter like Hoya he could do so against a smaller fighter (than Hoya) with a similar chin (some claim weaker) in Cotto.
Nothing Floyd could do in this fight makes it anything other than a complete waste of time and circus sideshow that is killing boxing.
Boxing's problem is PPV not Floyd or Oscar. Everyone I know says the same thing, they'd watch it and they're interested. They're just not gonna shell out 50-60 bucks for it. It's very simple, really.
It provides the opportunity for somebody to get hurt, or any other number of things to happen to prevent a real fight. This fight has no meaning, is not interesting, won't be entertaining, is not needed, and is representative of what is killing boxing, the best fighters not fighting each other. This fight represents everything wrong with profesional sports.
