.. in his career to unheralded fighters, but still went on to have the same resume of accomplishments that he presently has, how would he be viewed by the boxing world? How would he be viewed by you?

Depends on the kind of loss. I think he might even be more appreciated for it. Either way, he would still be considered one of the best ever.

To me is always about what you accomplish. He could have lost that first Castillo fight on points, hed still be the same fighter unless he let it break him. If he went on to do exactly the same things, it would cgange his ranking at all imo. We would actually know more about him and how he handled a loss.

I intentionally did not specify method of defeat because the inference is that the defeat(s) would have had zero residual impact to the remainder of his career.

Quite possibly greater than he is now... I think a Floyd without a "0" would take more risks and we would see what an even better fighter he is against better opposition.

This exactly, hes so afraid to lose his precious 0 he takes very little risk.
Having a 0 is so overrated.
Actually if the judges had scored it correctly he would have had a loss to Castillo and avenged it in the rematch and be a better fighter for it now.

Still a top P4P fighter and an ATG. All boxers who are considered pound for pound greats are not judged on a cupple of hicups early in their career.

why would you care about early losses, I only care about the whole body of work. Show me an undefeated fighter and I will show you someone who is protected.

    He'd be much more liked.

People need to see flaws in order to relate. Rule of Power: Never seem too perfect. In the ring, he's too perfect to be liked.

I'm not certain Floyd would be liked more or hated any less merely for having a defeat(s) on his record. The result of a tainted record would have to impact his disposition in some way to get a better response out of people. In other words, if Floyd carried himself exactly the same way with a blemish on his record as he does currently while being undefeated, I don't think it will change his percepcion amongst the the people who already dislike him.

He'd be viewed as a lesser fighter. Good, but not great.
