Hatton wins a pretty wide decision. Hell, he would have won the fight they did have if Cortez wasn't the ref.

would have been a much better fight, especially if dave paris reffed it. he certainly wouldn't have been calling 'break' before there was even a clinch. the noise levels of the crowd would have been unbelievable in manchester. mayweather would still have won though.

 true. even with the ref hatton had for the KT fight wouldnt have helped him with floyd. floyd was even fighting hattons fight to a certain extent with all the holding and wrestling and still beat him at his own game. only way hatton ever wins is if floyd were to break for of his hands during the fight.

I think Hatton was still at his prime when he fought Floyd. The weight would have been the one issue keeping him from his best. Floyd was probably an even better fighter at 140 than he is at 147. I think it would have been the same outcome, though.

Hard to tell, It could've drained Floyd getting to 140... People like to say Floyd is a small welter but it's bull**** or else he would have made weight against Marquez...

A different ref, whether American or British would've let them fight more on the inside.. Cortez is ****.

I'd say at the least the fight goes the distance. And I think Hatton would've been able to be more competitive due to being at his natural weight and having Flolyd drained...

Unless Hatton is allowed to use a bat , knife or gun he gets his ass kicked just as bad.

    Legit question would be:

What would have happened if Floyd fought Oscar/Shane in 2000?

It is embarrassing that some people are actually saying Hatton would have won. Coming in at 147 was good for Hatton on that night. He came in at the same fighting weight as usual but wasnt dehydrated two days before. Not sure but he prob outweighted Mayweather on the night. Hattons fighting weight at 140 is more than Mayweathers at 147.

Cortez didnt do a bad job. If Hatton builds his career on fighting in the clinch shame on the refs that allow him to do it. He should have been disqualified against Tszyu. Hatton is the most boring fighter I have ever seen. Punch and clinch over and over. I really dont understand how people can watch him.

I'm guessing you mean the Mayweather that fought them now. Well the Mosley fight would have been more competitive though it would probably end up with the same result. The De La Hoya fight is more of a toss up, because Oscar would probably have fought differently as would have Mayweather.

i still believe floyd didnt make weight b/c he really didnt give a **** to make weight for a catch weight fight. And yes, i also think this was a pretty big dick move, but i dont think it was b/c he was unable to make weight. Now that fight aside, im not too sure he could have dropped down to 140 w/o draining himself so it definitely served him fighting at 147. Now if we're talking about them meeting when floyd was at 140 already, than the weight draining part of it goes out the window. The floyd that fought gatti beats hatton just as much as the 147 floyd.

if you look at the fight, there was quite a few times where cortez let them fight on the inside that involved wrestling, holding etc and whenever that happened floyd was winning the ugly boxing battle. Like has been stated many times before, he beat hatton at his own game. He would tie hatton up, move him around, let go of him, step back and pop off straight rights down the pipe.

thats a good point as well. Hatton "style" had been allowed to perpetuate itself due to him fighting in his backyard with his own refs. The KT fight was about 50% wrestling which is far too much. If he had been fighting in america his whole career, he either may not have made it as far as he did, or he would have been forced to change his style up much earlier.

Money was beating him on the inside either way, so i dont see what diffrence another ref would of made.

All I can say is, if Shane in his prime could have put Floyd away in round 2, he would have won. Otherwise, I think Floyd still would have beaten him.

Oscar would have probably been just as competitive, but in a different way. He would have gotten hit more, but most likely landed a little bit more.

(of course, you have to take into consideration that Floyd was fighting at 130 pounds in the year 2000. If he were to fight them, it would be a considerable jump in weight, unless he caught Shane before he moved up to fight Oscar.)

the people who think hatton stood a better chance of beatin floyd at 147 over 140 are full of ****.

hatton is by far a better fighter at 140 than he is at 147.
