Because like I said, Hatton challenged Floyd this time around.

And it wouldn't of mattered what weight, Floyd was going to beat him.

Why should Floyd come down 10lbs to fight a guy who challenged him?

Even DLH who's known for making all the demands went down after he challenged Pac.

Just because he still beats him doesn't mean it wouldn't be a closer fight... I don't think Floyd would have gotten the K.O. And I think Hatton could have split the first 6-8 rounds before Floyd taking control.

I don't see him dropping to 140 then and having no ill effects.

It had nothing to do with Collazo it had everything to do with who was dictating the terms and ego. PBF was in the driver's seat not Hatton. PBF was on top of the boxing mountain and not Hatton. Not only that PBF was a stylistic nightmare for Hatton and would have beaten him at any weight from 130-154 it wouldn't matter and PBF knew this as well.:deal

Well Floyd has cut about 9lbs before to make weight.

This would of been 10lbs, and the average human body and cut 10-15lbs.

Then again, he probably wouldn't have thrown as much as we want to think, because we he was at 140, he was only 144 or so.

    He still gets the KO.

i agree with what you say. the original post asks if hatton fought fought floyd in manchester at 140, would it have been a more competitive fight. i think it would though i think floyd still wins.

a lot of people are sayin it would have been an easier fight for floyd at 140 and if that was truely the case then i think floyd would have dictated the fight took place at 140 seen as he controlled the terms of the fight.

floyd saw how hatton looked like **** at 147 against collazo and thought - easy money.

Im sure Floyd would still have beaten Hatton, but I think Hatton may have lasted the distance. Floyd had comfortably grown into WW whilst Hatton had tried it once before and not looked as good.
Hatton although guilty of holding and hitting in his career, wasnt able to get started by doing this. Holding and hitting isnt part of boxing and shouldnt be aloud, but in fairness Cortez was breaking up Hatton and Maywheather very quickly, faster than he normally breaks fights. I dont think Cortez was being unfair or biased but think he was caught up in what was Hattons reputation and was acting quicker than usual.
With a neutral ref who wouldnt allow Hattons holding and Floyds elbows, I think at 140lbs Hatton would go the distance just about.
I put a bet on Floyd to beat Hatton inside the distance. Never rated Hatton and thought having the fight at WW only made it less likely for him to win.

    Too many factors.

The fight is the same outcome if Floyd is fighting Hatton at 140 after he fought DLH.

The fight is far worse for Hatton if he fought Floyd while Floyd was at 140.

That and when Floyd was at 140, Hatton (and Cotto) wanted no part of him.

    Back then?

The question was if they fought at 140, not if Hatton fought the 140 version of Mayweather! The time frame never changed, only the weight! Idiot. The fight would still be 2007-12-08.

If Hatton fought Mayweather at 140 instead of 147, who knows how the weight losing would affcet Mayweather. He had a hard time going down to 144 against JMM despite the fight being re-scheduled to a much later date because of the "rib" injury, and still failed to make 144.

So definitely, Mayweather would have a hard time making lightwelter, although he is a small welter. The last time he was at 140 was against Gatti and that was 2 years removed. And two years when you are approaching 30 is an eternity.

Look at his fights at lighter weights. Not only would have FMJ beat him he would have beaten him up!

You do see how stupid what you just said was? So a person asks a "What if?" and then you go all hyper technical? :think

    "What if unicorns were real?"

    "They would crap rainbows."

"Idiot. Just because they are unicorns doesnt mean they don't eat grass!"

Are you on the debate team? :blood

No. It is just that he did not understand the question properly.

If he was referring to the 140 lbs version Mayweather, then that would be 2005 at most.

But the question was if Hatton fought Mayweather under different circumstance not diferent timeframe, because obviously he was using the 140 version of Mayweather in his argument, like he was throwing more punches then, or something.

To make it clearer for you:

What if the Hatton fight which took place in 2007-12-08 was at 140 instead of 147, was held in England instead of Nevada, and refereed by Dave Parris instead of Joe Cortez, would the outcome be different?

Instead of this question : What would be the outcome if Hatton fought Mayweather in 2005?

If you can not make out the difference, then you really do deserve each other.
