If Frank Mir breaks someone's arm for the 3rd time, should he be sanctioned?

It isn't based on extreme violence anymore than football is.

Atleast fighters don't mindlessly run into eachother each play like they do in football games.

Ultimately yes. Frank can't be penalised for having such a strong contraction when he locks on a sub. Someone like Nog simply has to tap.

In the UFC, if Frank was doing it to bums off the street then you'd have to argue against it but these guys know about jits and they know if they don't tap in time what oculd happen.

There are some holds that produce little more than pain, but most submissions result in serious injury and/or unconsciousness. If you don't tap to a choke, you go to sleep. If you don't tap to an arm bar, you risk a break or dislocation. Etc...Etc...

    Respect the submission.

Its tap, snap, or nap with Frank Mir... No secret. If you get your arm broken or choked out (i.e. Kongo) then its your own ****ing fault...

It's already been watered down....Remember McCaiins spat with the UFC back in the day when the Fertitta's just got on board... The UFC is barely MMA any more much less for reaching out to its Vale Tudo roots. You ask me shits is Pancrase with closed fists. Hybrid submission 'wrastling' :yep

PRIDE rules was catered to the fight fan..if only they had allowed elbows on the ground.

PRIDE never allowed elbows on the mat because they caused cuts and could stop a fight prematurely.

It would've been great to see someone like Fedor, Shogun, Wandy, hell even Rampage be able to utilize elbows.

Clearly you can't have MMA without having BJJ, and BJJ carries the risk of breaking someone's arm. Ugly **** can happen in a fight. That's fighting.

But Frank Mir is a repeat offender. And with the circumstances of the Nog rematch, Mir's anger at the disrespect Nog showed by excuse-making after their first fight and Mir's words and attitude after doing it, you can't tell me that Mir didn't break that arm deliberately to make a point.

There are a ton of BJJ specialists out there, there are usually a couple of fights on every card that end by submission, but an ugly break is a rarity. Most BJJ guys in the UFC have gone their entire pro careers without ever snapping someone's forearm.

    So if Mir breaks a 3rd arm, that's not a co-incidence.

And if a guy REPEATEDLY snaps people's arms on live TV, that's a problem. Because that sort of **** drives viewers away. And if it happens 3x with one fighter, it pretty much indicates that that fighter is a sadist who gets off on snapping people's arms. That's a problem just like a fighter who repeatedly attacks a clearly KOed opponent Hendo-Bisping style is a problem.

And for the record, half of you assholes can't even read.

I didn't come out and take a firm stand anywhere. I asked a question. And I outlined both sides of the argument in the opening post. :-(
