He will certainly become the greatest ATG boxer Britain has known.

Gavin is still work in progress great prospect and talent, lets now get carried away as he still gets caught quite a bit. Williams is tougher oppostion than McD. Put Gavin in there with Grant and then Williams and a few other British contenders. He aint ready for the British title yet.

i cant agree with you there don, gavin would have far to greater range of punches for williams who is very strong but comes in in straight lines and would be picked off comfortably by gavin,as for grant, gavin would need to be the agressor has grant is a counter puncher, unfortunately little power to keep an opponent at arms length.although a very nice boxer.

agree with Billy. one other thing that worries me about Gavin moving up to quickly is that he doesnt look like he has grown into Light Welter yet. Guys like Daws, Grant, Williams and Morrison are strong and tough fighters, as good as Gavin is theres the chance they could jsut walk through him and overpower him.

Good Point about Williams. The Thing is Williams is stronger, bigger, fresher and hungrier than MCDonaugh. Gavin is still vunerable and takes shots square on. McD is battleworn. Im not saying Williams would beat Gavin and saying that it would be tougher than people think. Gavin would beat Grant, as you said Grant just doesnt have enough power.

I wouldnt put Grant in the strong category to ne honest.
If you put Gavin in with grown men like Daws and Morrison he would be in a life and death struggle. Skill wise he is a cut above but believe me he would eat a hell of alot of shots. Lets face it his style wont involve much longevity with taking all those flush shots.

Steady on. Gavin only got caught a couple of times. He does mark up a bit, but his defence is sound.
I like Lenny Daws but he was being comprehensively outboxed by Cook, unitl Cook gassed. Once Gavin can do the twelve he'll beat Daws comfortably, and I doubt he would 'eat a hell of alot of shots'.

Daws has a pretty high work rate over the 12 rounds. He will cause allot of problems to Gavin if its his first 12 rounder. If it happens next summer after 8-9 more fights for Gavin, i am 100% confident he wins. If it happens at any point this year i think its 50-50.

I just think theres 7-8 decent domestic fights Gavin could have where he learns allot and get rounds in like last week. Light Welterweight is a good division for a top prospect like him to be in as theres allot of decent domestic level fighters, but nothing spectacular.

I agree. I think his next fight should be Williams for the English title.

   ............don't think so.

Gavin should fight Daws next, though funnily enough I think Cook might hit a bit too hard for him at this stage. Properly hypocritical from me as I like to see prospects step it up fast, and I have no reason to think that Gavin is vulnerable (never stopped in the amateurs I believe) just think Cook is a little too dangerous.

Then again, Frankie could probably box rings round him. You can tell he's a Sweet Pea fan:deal
