Tyson for sure had all the tools to beat Ali, mental fortitude is another story though. The Tyson that was ripping apart the heavyweight division in mid/late-80's could have beaten any fighter. Stylistically Ali isn't even the hardest fighter for Tyson to face, I think the hardest guys a prime Tyson could have fought were Prime Foreman or Holyfield.

Frazier was leaps & bounds ahead of Tyson when it comes to stamina.

Tyson like Frazier has good movement technique how to get in to attack a bigger adversary, yes maybe he could have a great shot to beat an Ali. Though Mike has more obvious power than Frazier that could give any fighter real trouble once get hit and hell sure it can give a different scenario for Ali, Tyson can be an emotional boxer and tends nothing more but throw the bombs to finish an opponent, while Frazier simply uses good tactics and tecniques with patience but effective to defeat a foe. I think Muhammad Ali is a boxer who can fight with intelligence, not only he can adjust to whoever he faces in a fight, he will just play and frustrate Tyson up to the last bell or tire Mike out and knock him out after the mid-rounds.

Of course. If Ali could get inside the heads of fearsome monsters like Liston and Foreman, he'd have Tyson crying before they entered the ring.

this is one of those stupid things that people who don't know **** about boxing hear from other people who don't know **** about boxing and repeat ad noseum in order to try to hide the fact they don't know **** about boxing but just end up doing the opposite.

This would be a factor, although I would not say Mike Tyson was an emoitional midget because it takes a lot of mental strength to go through what he has and train as hard as he did as well, but I could imagine him getting frustrated if he was behind on points. Also Muhamed Ali went the full 15 rounds many times so he had the edge in that department. I'd expect Tyson to be dominated him for the first 6 or 7 with Ali adapting and taking over after that. It would be a close fight and I could not see either winning 3 out of 3 against the other.

Because Frazier could keep relentless pressure on for 15 rounds non stop, Tyson after about round 5/6 was noticeably less ferocious than he was in rounds one to three. In short, if Tyson doesnt knock Ali out in the first three rounds he's getting the **** beat out of him.

For one, it's more fair to call the mid to late 60s the "prime" of Ali than the 1971 Ali.

Tyson was faster, more powerful, and had a better variety of punches than Frazier, but also more prone to frustration and impatience. It's obviously over simplistic to say that Tyson simply loses to all opponents who "fought back" and "stood up" to him. If it were that simple, he wouldn't have achieved that much. But he did show a tendency to get out of sync, forget to move his head, look for one shot, not go about setting his big shots the right way, make the same mistakes, etc...

Tyson's stamina wasn't up to Frazier's either. That's not to say that Tyson had poor stamina, his conditioning was fine pre-prison. But Frazier's was remarkable. This is a reason why Frazier stayed on his feet land in the Ali fights despite getting the stuffing beaten out of him.

Tyson is more dangerous early on than Frazier with his speed and power. Ali was vulnerable to the left hook as he had a tendency to drop his right hand, leaving the right side of his face exposed. But Ali had a great chin and great recovery abilities when he was hurt, so if he does get hurt early on, I think he survives (even against a finisher like Tyson). After Tyson's fast start, the fight would probably fall under a predictable pattern of Ali doing good work from the outside and Tyson getting impatient and looking for a bomb, meanwhile taking shots from Ali. Since Tyson never lost a decision in his career, it was usually a stoppage, I'll go with the pattern and say he again gets stopped in the late rounds.

  10. 1_ you are an absolute bum and ignorant, because frazier never faced a prime ali, he was retired during 3 years and he was much more static. in the 70s.
2_ali64-67 would beat joe frazier and tyson as well.
3_ joe frazier was nothing like tyson, frazier was the ultimate pressure fighter, joe had more heart, more stamina, he was better body puncher(larry holmes said it too), he was better inside. frazier had better pack against ali .
4_ joe frazier had the best left hook in history, and it was the weak point of ali.
5_frazier was much stronger mentally than tyson, frazier was stronger late, tyson was dangerous early.and ali had iron chin, tyson could not ko bums like tillissmith, green or tucker.(i will not mention the beating of buster douglas)
    6_you know **** about boxing

Just because ali of one of the first greatest boxers ever doesnt mean that Tyson couldent stand a chance on him. Ali being better than Tyson, its kinda like football - pele is a "king of football" where as i would say maradona was much better
