Tyson's power, precision and speed would be a problem for Ali. But just because Frazier could cut Ali off and get him to the ropes doesn't mean Tyson could. The Ali of 71' was not the same one from 65-67. The Ali post layoff could not move like the one of old. The Ali of 65-67 I feel would have been extremely hard to pin down without getting frustrated. Ali could dance for 15 in those days. Tony Tucker managed to keep Tyson off by boxing and jabbing, Smith did it by holding. Ali would do the first but the second if Tyson got too close. Ali was physically VERY strong and could really push peoples heads down.

Before the fight Ali would get in to Tyson's head. I'm not saying Tyson was mentally weak - I think he was before things starting going really wrong - even against Douglas when Mike was taking a beating he carried on. But he wasn't as strong mentally as say Joe Frazier and if Ali could get in to Liston, Foreman and Frazier's head he sure would Tyson's.

Overall whilst I think Tyson would have all the attributes to really batter Ali I just feel Ali would be too tricky, too adaptable and too fast, mentally strong and plain tough to lose. Ali always pulled off miracles with sheer will and he proved people wrong time and time again. Although in many ways Tyson was the better fighter, Ali is just Ali - he has too much mental ability for Mike.

Ali is also a susceptible to left hookers and prime Tyson left hooks are one of (if not the) best ever int he sport.

dude, here is my proof that Tyson can beat Ali. I turn on fight night 4, turn the difficulty settings to GOAT, setup a match between Ali and Tyson and let the computer duke it out. Tyson wins all the time! You can't deny my logic son! **** is bulletproof!

You r assuming too much, Tyson in his prime (mentally he was all there, even if he was wrong, no playing with his mind here) was all wrong for Ali, the same type of fighter that Frasier was, only with more speed, better defense and a lot more power with both hands.

Douglas was at the right time in the right place, Tyson was there for the taking and very depress, still he put Douglas down for more than 10 seconds, the fight should had been over.
