It will will set up a mega-fight with Wlad. In my opinion it is Fury who has the highest chance of beating Wlad among the current heavies. I'd give him a 30% odds to beat the Champ.
Haye has backed out of the Fury fight again, I think it will be reset for Feb.8th, but knowing Haye it might not happen at all. Vitali wants to fight Haye, but if Haye were to lose to Fury that fight would be off again as well.
I think wlad would still win but would find it more difficult against fury as he would be much more difficult to smother and clinch, as fury is huge himself and can actually fight on the inside delievering combinations to the body and head. In the 11th round wlad was finding it uncomfortable when poveltkin was hitting him with body shots. But I dont think fury would be able to handle the right hand flush as if it lands it would knock him down and think a points victory to wlad if anything.
he'd use the same blueprint against Wach vs Wach he clinched a lot less and used his jab-right straight to keep him at bay
Wlad v Fury would look like Wlad v Wach, the only difference being Fury would hit the floor every time Wlad landed and probably wouldn't make it out of the second round.
Vlad fights better against tall fighters, he knocked out Derrick Jefferson in the second round, won every round against Wach, and Wach was on steroids, is six feet 8 inches tall, Jefferson was 6 feet 6 inches tall, he easily knock out Bostice who was six feet five inches tall, or 6'6", Vlad knocked #1 ranked Austin using only his left hand, knocking him out with five left hooks, etc. Wilder was easy for him to hit, knocked him down with a jab in sparring for the Wach fight, etc.
Point taken. But, unlike Povetkin and despite the size difference, it seems to me that Fury has a better inside game than Povetkin who demonstrated that he had none of it against Wlad. Clinching won't do for Wlad either vs Fury. P.S. The only man to blame for that excessive holding last night was Povetkin who would literally lounge head-on into Wlad's torso and remain standing there like an oaf not attempting any elbow-sticking, never mind uppercuts.
Fury has no chance against Wlad, none whatsoever. Fury has done well against much smaller opposition but against a big, fast, skilled heavy like Wlad, Fury get's KO'ed quickly. Wach at least had a chin of granite to keep him in the fight for the full 12 rounds. Fury may have a worse chin than Wlad, when was Wlad ever dropped by a cruiser or a light puncher like Pajkic? When Wlad has been hurt or dropped it's at least been against proven big punchers.
Fury would get knocked out within 6 rounds He is so poor technically and defensively, the majority of fights he has won has been due to his sheer size, And against wlad he will be fighting a man just as big (more or less) but physically stronger, technically superior and a much better defence. Fury only has 1 thing over wlad, and that is he a much younger.
If Wlad is declining, and continues to do so, then these fights become a bit more interesting with the new age up and comers... but even the Wlad we saw this weekend would imo be too much for the best Fury.
Any half decent tall fighter will beat Fury. Wlad is a much more technical fighter, to lose to a caveman.
Fury can't out box Wlad his jab is not good enough and he is to slow and oafish to be able to get close enough to force Wlad to fight inside Im prepared to be mocked for saying this David Price has a much better chance V Wlad price has a good jab huge power, Price v Thompson when price kept Thompson at range was a different fight to when Thompson was allowed to fight of Prices chest, Not going to happen though Tony killed Prices confidence
