Probably Marciano and Dempsey. He has a few close fights (as in can be argued Fury's way) with Louis and Frazier but I'd pick both to stop him late. Especially over 15
I prefer to look at who he has actually beaten. An old Wlad, a second stringer in Chisora .and an unproven Wilder, Not great legacy material imo.
He didn't beat Wilder. I think if he retired now that would come back to haunt him, big time. I think he'd lose the rematch in more obvious fashion.
He has done nothing in his career to be rated over any ATG. Fury is not, and it’s not close, an ATG fighter.
I think you're right. An consummate victory over Wilder might have helped change that, but that's just my opinion.
I think he'd be all sorts of wrong for Schmeling. He's clearly diminished now anyway, his prime was 3 fights, only 1 against someone that matters in these things.
I suppose if he beats Wilder in a rematch then we may look at it different but for now , Yes he's clearly not an ATG !
Thing is...Wilder has not proved himself as well. Fury beating him just adds another very flawed opponent to his list of opponents. There is no long timeline of great accomplishments for either fighter.
Anthony Joshua is getting plenty of stick right now, but at least he was fighting opponents ranked in the top ten!
I give more credit for Fury beating Wilder than, say, Tunney beating an old, semi-retired Dempsey on a wet canvas over 10 rounds.
