If the Usyk loss was the last time Tyson Fury stepped in to the ring (and let's face it, knowing him it could be)...
Then where do you rate him overall?
Where do you place him in a list of 50 greatest heavyweight champs?

My overriding feeling, would be that it had been a career of unfulfilled potential.

I think some talk is already Circulating about a Fury vs Usyk rematch but I stand to be corrected.
Anyway, to address the thread I can see him being top 20 but not top 10. There was a lot of wasted time and opportunity in that career. I give him credit for dethroning both Wladimir and Deontay.

Why is his steroid use rarely addressed and not disqualifying to begin with?

Arguably the greatest waste of talent in heavyweight history

Yes crazy to think, that since beating Klitschko in 2015, he's only fought 11 times.
I know we had the pandemic plus his *health issues *, but still.
No way can I put him in along side the likes of Ali, Louis, Lewis, Holmes for legacy name fights either.
An old Klitschko and a trigger happy, big hitter in Wilder, and that's his main wins.

No even top 20 for me.
Fury's resume is esentialy smoke and mirrors.
Beating an ancient Wlad, a limited wilder and a bunch of non entities like Chisora amd Ngannou, while milking comfortably his titles with minimum risk, is not the resume of an ATG. Furthermore, he ducked Joshua and Usyk (for a while at least).
On top of that he finally gets beaten by the smaller Usyk.

A subpar champ in subpar era. Lots of wasted potential and opportunities.

I am glad Fury made a bunch of money, so now he can retire to live comfortably and get the mental care he requires.
Hopefully he is gone for good.

Wlad was old. And imo Wilder was vastly overrated. However to be fair to Fury nobody was able to beat Wlad in over 11 years. So that matters. And the Wilder trilogy was wildly (forgive the pun) entertaining. Wilder showed heart and was always dangerous. Outside of that he has Whyte, Chisora, Wallin. Not too deep.
Still he gave a great effort against Usyk who wasn’t ancient and is legit great fighter.
I think Fury belongs somewhere in top 25 it’s a shame he wasted so much of his prime. Not rematching Wlad. Then giving us the crap fights of Chisora 3 and Ngannou.
Had he fought Joshua and won he’d be higher up.
He belongs in the class of Bowe, Norton, Baer, etc

If Fury had the work ethic of a Klitschko instead of an obese sloth, people would talk about him like he was the Grim Reaper. Instead, he's going to go down as a huge, talented heavyweight who could hang with anybody on his best night but who consistently underperformed. Alas, he only really put it together 2-3 times his whole career. At least he lost to Usyk and not to a Chisora or Whyte type guy because he trained on pies and Guinness one time too many.

And fighting Dereck Chisora THREE times. Struggling with a 37 year old Steve Cunningham and Otto Wallin. Klitschko was 40 years old with nearly 70 fights of mileage on him. And that fight was a dull jab fest between two guys afraid to pull the trigger. Fury deserved credit for beating wilder when he was still undefeated. But at 35 years old I’m not even sure if wilder was prime. The Francis N’gaou fight was a disgrace. And in all that time fury was around he never once faced a man his own size let alone bigger. He’s probably one of the weakest lineal champs in the sports history

The Derek chisora rubber match really peed me off. It was that point that a lot of people s eyes were opened to Fury s **** taking of the public. Shameful.

Even if he continues, that sentiment would still ring true for all the lost years, and inactivity.
