Pac would not be as popular today because he would not fight these: 1.) Oscar -- this fight firmly placed Pac to the minds of casual fans and elevated him to stardom. 2.) Hatton -- Hatton was motivated by Pac's win which was a done deal as soon as the fight with Oscar was over. 3.) Cotto, Clottey, Margarito -- TR boxers. However under GBP, Pac could have more respect from hardcore fans if he wins all these but all below welterweight. It is below welter because, to fight Oscar, he has to jump weights and discovered that he could fight there. He would not have done this if he is not fighting Oscar: 1.) JMM -- trilogy easily made under GBP. 2.) Juan Diaz, Katsidis, Campbell, Casa, Soto In summary, under GBP, Pac is not as popular, not as rich, and because it is below welterweight, no Mayweather war of words. In hindsight, I prefer Pac with TR.
Why wouldn't he have fought Oscar in your opinion? :think I do agree he wouldn't have gotten the last two belts he did if he was under Golden Boy and wouldn't be as big in the media. :yep
to be honest if you look at it differently he could be in the light welterweight division right now fighting the best there not as popular but better fights for us fans cause i guarantee he wouldnt stay at 135
:deal I think he should/should have taken it to these boys at 140. But I understand his promoter taking the biggest money fights and fights with the bigger name less risk. I mean look at where he is in the media now.
Why on earth wouldn't the Oscar fight have happened? Pac would have fought Oscar and Hatton then a third fight with JMM. He wouldn't have got Cotto, Clottey or Marg but only the Cotto fight would have been a loss to the fans.
he would not have fought Oscar because he is Pac's promoter. Oscar fought Pac because he was pissed at Pac for switching back to TR thinking that it is an easy fight.
Oscar was praying for Hatton to beat Floyd so he could fight him in England - he didn't care that Hatton was with GBP did he? Oscar fought Pac for the money and the fight would have been even easier to make if he was promoting him.
If I am Pac, I will not fight my promoter and vice versa. If ever it happened, everybody would think that the fight is a setup, whoever wins. If Pac won, GBP is just making Pac more marketable for the future. if Oscar won, it should be expected. Bad publicity for GBP.
What's bad for GBP - Oscar and Pac making a lot of money fighting each other? If Pac wins, GBP has a huge star and the company makes millions. If he loses, it's to a much bigger guy and no-one holds it against him that much. Oscar and Pac fought each other for one reason - they both made a lot of money. I find the notion they wouldn't want to fight each other if Oscar was his boss, ridiculous.
