There was a time when Loeffler and Company insisted that they would fight Andre Ward if it ever made sense and Ward became relevant again. For over a year they said Ward needed to reclaim his status and name. And that it had to have some dollars behind it.

    That time HAS COME.

Golovkin chased his Canelo fight for a couple of years. Staying relatively safe. He got it. He will get himself money to take care of his family for life. Probably several generations if it is spent wisely.

Should he win he needs to actually secure a fight that means something to boxing fans. To his career. To his legacy. Canelo will always be known as a guy that started at welter and was really a Jr MW. He has 0 wins against middleweights

Andre Ward now sits atop p4p lists without any serious dispute. He has been back on HBO TV. His name is now as big as its ever been.

In victory Golovkin and his people need to back up their words. They need to be reminded about them and pressed about it. Instead of let off the hook. If the roles were reversed the media would be grinding on Ward and pressing him to go after Golovkin. They need to do the same.

Golovkin is about an inch or 1.5 inches shorter. Ward has a 1 inch reach advantage. And its clear Ward is a small LHW. The size difference is not much. Clearly not ridiculous and nothing we havent seen before between two fighters.

Golovkin recently prasied Wards victory. I think 170 would be a fair place to meet. With rehydration clause. This would probably be the biggest/best fight you could make below heavyweight!

Lololol , yes yes - a middleweight must move up to LHW for his legacy.

Mmmhmm, right. Ward will just have to concentrate on guys his own size now - not men two weight classes down. Gvodyzk will be a good start.

Sure did, got paid nice to do it too. Didn't call him out or push to make the fight. Brook came into his pond and got his ass beat hard.

Nobody "needs" to justify their legacy by moving up two weight classes.

Now if you're proposing a fight at 168lbs - 8 up for GGG and seven down for Ward. Well, then we can have that debate. I'd push for it too. If both fighters can agree it would be huge.

But it would be a fight between two great fighters and neither of them would be comfortable at the weight. Take it for what it's worth.

This reminds me of the trashfest between Hopkins and Jones after Hopkins middleweight tournament win.

Assuming GGG gets past Canelo, a showdown with Ward would be a mega fight. Ward would be the fav but I give ggg a much better shot than I gave Hopkins against jones back then.
But we don't know how the canelo fight will play out, Oscar is mentioning a trilogy, ggg might opt to retire. It's too early to say.

That Ward ship has sailed and 160 is about to heat up. If GGG knocks off Canelo there are some great young fighters out there. Canelo will get a rematch unless GGG totally dismantles his ass.

Will Diva Ward take a fight if hes not the A-side? Remember the concessions that were made for him to take the Kovalev rematch. I don't see Golovkin accepting the fight if theres no fair terms, and I don't see Ward wanting to fight in an even playing field.

In order for this fight to be forced the money needs to be big enough. Ward needs to stop scraping by with lucky wins. Golovkin is doing what he needs to be doing by focusing on MW, a weight he could fight in for his entire career without deviation. However, I think Golovkin woulld be more popular if he lost every now and then, because people hate getting their boxers KO all the time, and it would lead to bigger fights with boxers ducking him less.

If they were more or less the same size the fight would happen naturally. The size difference is the same as between Canelo and Golovkin. Hoewver, Canelo is young and has a great ability to modify his weight. Golovkin is not young and neither is Ward. Ward picked up alot of weight during his lay off that he wont be able to take off.

Maybe in two years when Golovkin feels comfortable in SMW could the fight be made.

At 168, with dehydration clause, neutral officers and in MSG - YES, make it happen.

Im proposing 170 catchweight which i think is fair.

This is a sore subject that will probably be avoided by his fans. An inconvenient truth.

But the media needs to put pressure on Golovkin should he win. The same way they put pressure on Canelo. They gave Golovkin a pass for bringing up Kell Brook. They need to demand he try to get a catchweight fight against Ward should he emerge victorious over Canelo.

Sanchez and Loeffler have both said that if the fight made sense they would consider it. Financially and legacy wise it makes sense now.

I see you want Ward to concentrate on guys his own size huh? But im sure you defended the joke Brook fight right?

Golovkin doesnt have a legacy. He has WBA title defenses, a win over a welterweight with a thin WW resume, a close win over a legit MW and an upcoming fight against a career WW/JR MW with no wins over a MW. He has NO legacy. He needs to just fight Ward to leave one. He doesnt even need to win. HE HAS NO REAL LEGACY. Only in the minds of those who want and need him to have one. His legacy doesnt exist in the real world.

People really need to stop saying that Ward is a "mega fight". Ward v. Kov 1 sold 160k ppc's and the rematch supposedly did 130k.
    GGG v. Jacobs did 170k.

GGG is the bigger star by any measure. Ward won't accept being a B-side even though thats exactly what he is.

Canelo or Jacobs rematches are much bigger than anything Ward could offer. Why would he move up??
