Fighting a much larger man, who is going to be a cruiserweight soon, and who will have his lenient referees and biased judges, who will probably fight dirty and unfairly? It's like asking Golovkin to fight Sven Ottke in Germany, he isnt going to win that fight.

170 catchweight does not add to a legacy, 168 does. Agenda shows through.

How does me suggesting 170 catchweight show an agenda? I was trying to be fair. You guys know Ward prob cant make 168 and so you want 168 now. But where was Golovkin when Ward wanted a fight in 2016 at 168 before he fully moved to 175? It was crickets and email replies saying "NO" in a half hour??? Loeffler said 164 when Ward offered him a fight at 168. Now Ward is full fledged 175 and you are out here shouting "it would have to be 168" and you wanna talk about agendas showing through? LOL. You have some nerve young man.

170 with rehydration clause at MSG is fair. US judges seemed to treat Golovkin just fine in NYC so you cant whine.

Fair to ask Ward to go down 5 lbs instead of 8 since its harder to go down and the fact that GGG turned down 168 fight with Ward in late 2015 for the match to take place in 2016. So its kind of insulting to ask for 168 now when you know Ward went up and you passed on the fight.

Canelo is the biggest draw in boxing near enough & lineal MW champion. If that's not a legacy opponent what is? People wanting to bypass MW & call for other weight fights here are just upset that beating Canelo legitimately would seal the deal for GGG in terms of MW pedigree & legacy. If GG chooses to move up then I'd love a Ward fight but it's unlikely. I think he retires after Canelo.

What does being a draw have to do with in the ring accomplishments? Andre Ward has a better resume and is more accomplished than Canelo and isnt nearly a big draw.

Beating Canelo wont seal any legacy. Its simply a big money fight. Canelo doesnt have any wins against MWs. He won the lineal title from a guy at a catchweight. And that guy won the title at a catchweight. And Canelos only defense of that title was against a WW at a catchweight. LOL. Canelo has no resume as a MW. None.

Golovkin fans were dogging the **** out of Canelo and his career when they thought he was ducking. Now that hes gonna fight Golovkin suddenly Canelo is a legend.

    Ive never understood this

Now let me start off by explaining that Im a white man. And I have a few African American friends. Now I myself enjoy a good, stereotypical, racist joke. I really do. I share them all the time. Even with my black friends. I have one in particular that is a my fishing buddy. I refer to him often as "monk" which is short for ******. For instance I will text him "Hey monk what kind of beer are you picking up".

But Ill never understand why there is a segment of white boxing fans on forums who cannot stand to a see a black American fighter succeed. Ill never understand the kind of insecurity that leads to this. Just cant wrap my head around it.

It was the F word that was filtered not the N word. You assumed I wrote the N word. I didn't. Filters can be a blessing and a curse. This has got really trippy.... Lol

Almost certainly will not happen, a potential fight.

Absolutely doesn't happen unless Ward comes down to 168.

With Ward's recent talk about possibly moving up, seems no realistic chance the fight gets made.

GGG does not need Ward. Ward is a weak draw and was an inconclusive winner in his series with Kovalev. Additionally, GGG was ahead of Ward in the ESPN PFP before Ward-Kovalev 2 and likely goes back to the #1 spot if he defeats Canelo convincingly.

It's a shame that the fight never happened, but it's unlikely to ever happen.

No sweat for GGG, though. He never needed Ward in the first place. His legacy is more than secure as he continues to climb the ATG MW ranks in terms of continuous length of title reign (will get to third-longest in history before Canelo fight) and number of consecutive title defenses (second-best in history).
