He's doesn't have to... my point was if he's as good as his cheerleaders belive why not move up and prove all the doubters wrong...

    Why?

If he's a natural middlweight, why should he move up to super middle or light heavy but not heavyweight?

I have a question, should be simple to answer.

    In the last 15 years

Besides Pac and Mayweather, I wonder what fighters have moved up a division when meeting these two criterias,

    - Doesn't struggle to make the division they are in (for example.... Cotto moved up to 47 because he was struggling to make 140, Canelo is moving to middleweight because he struggles to make 154, Adamek moved to cruiser because he was killing himself making 175, ect)

    - Routinely doesn't even weigh the division above their natural weight, the division they move to fight at, a month away from their fights at their current weight (meaning, they are cutting massive weight weeks before the fight, killing themselves to make their current division, and fit their current division so well that they don't even weigh the next division up a month out)

For the very few fighters that fit criteria one, almost all of them will be eliminated by criteria two. I am interested in the fighters that would fit both, besides Golovkin.

The point is, this idea that fighters are moving up headhunting challenges at higher weights to chase greatness, is largely a fantasy. Fighters move up because their bodies are telling them to, barring generational ATG's like Pac and Mayweather, who when fighting at 140, probably fit the above two criteria, but still moved to 147.

Im sure there are a few... I'm asking because I am genuinely curious what other fighters have done what people are shitting on Golovkin for not doing.

He doesn't have to, but he should. If the Canelo fight doesn't come off in the next 5 or 6 months, he should be going up to compete with DeGale, imo, who is his best chance at a payday outwith Canelo. Neither guy a particularly big sell on his own - but it's a big PPV event in the UK if he does.

Daniel Geale weighed 158lbs 30 days out vs Cotto and came in the ring @ 175-180lbs ffs

People can cut weight for 30 day weigh ins and GGG's dream is a fight with Floyd so he cuts weight to appear smaller to try and get the fans to pressure the fight. If GGG is so small why didn't he fight Canelo @ 155lbs?

now that I think about it why does he always weigh 167+ on the IBF morning weigh in where the limit is 170 and he still has 12 hours of rehydrating????

He won't move up whilst the Canelo fight is an option. If Canelo didn't exist I imagine he'd have gone up already, body permitting.

Man did you see that state of Geale at the weigh in though lol? He was cross eyed and everything, looked like he tried to talk to kids through the school gates. Then he moved up after anyway so that can't have been good for him

Also, the whole "he expects Canelo to move up so why shouldn't he?" argument is a bit weak. If Golvokin had won the WBC belt at 168 and then ditched it right away, I suspect there would be calls for him to be fighting at 168 all the time.

Youre asking why does he weigh 167 the day of the fight? Lol... probably because he weighs around 172ish, give or take a few lbs, on fight night?

Which is around how much quite a few 154lbers weigh on fight night, and is also on par with Canelo.

167 was still 1 lb less than Brook's fight day weigh in and 2 lbs less than Lemieux'. What a weight bully, right James?

More like 168lbs but he can't weigh more than 170 for that weigh in so being heavier isn't an option, he would easily add the extra 10-12lbs in the next 12+hours easily he's a tank at 160lbs with the biggest back in the divison, he makes Canelo look like a child

GGG weighs 165lbs 30 days out but fight morning weighs more??????

The guy is indisputably cutting weight for the 30 day weigh in, how much is anyone's guess but my guess is 20lbs, putting him @ 185lbs walk around
