Now this is both compliment and criticism for him.

Look at the top guys in the division, there are 4 guys who won't fight him (Martinez, Sturm, Quillen and Cotto)

1 guy that SHOULDN'T fight him (or at all) Jermain

and then (assuming he wins tonight) he would have basically beaten the other relevant guys.

TIME TO MOVE ON son. No BS that you aren't ready to move up. No one good enough at 54 is big enough to move up. Yeah Canelo said he would fight him... but in 2 or 3 years, lol.

Id rather see him stay and rule the division. The guy is a pure middleweight and has no business fighting at 168. Fans these days are too obsessed with needless weight jumping. Stay and reign at 160.... see if he can carve out his own chapter of history at middleweight.

should stay @ 160 and clean out the division. Eventually he will grab that lineal title.

Ok, but here is where I have an issue with your statement... Team GGG have discussed and would like to pursue several fighters from other divisions like Mayweather, Canelo, Froch, Chavez Jr. He wants the big money fights and they aren't going to happen at 160.

So if they want the big fights they say they do... they need to either go up or down. Period. If he is going to stay at 160, then keep all those other fighters names out of his mouth because he isn't the A side.

K2 needs to step up and DUMP their treasury towards a Froch fight in January before he retires. That's what they should do, or a find a Russian millionaire to make that fight happen.

You forgot Cotto. He could have two big fights at 160 in Canelo and Cotto. Chavez Jr was a weight draining MW not long ago, the risk to reward ratio is very interesting for that fight at 168 lbs.

    OP reveals his real issue...

He should mention all those guys from other divisions because it's good promotion.

As to MW, he'll likely be fighting the Korobov-Lee winner next in a unification fight if he beats Rubio, for the 3rd of 5 titles at 160.

Next? Doubt it. The Feb fight is supposed to be in Monaco, that's got Martin Murray written all over it. Korobov-Lee winner in the Spring/Summer quite possibly, and by that time Canelo-Cotto will have taken place so they can try to enforce the WBC mando status with the winner... i.e. a WBC-WBA-WBO-IBO unification. Sounds too good to be true. Haymon will keep that IBF title in house for sure, whether Taylor/Jacobs/Quillin carries on with it.

No he doesnt why should he? Whats there in the SMW division that is so enticing? Ward looks like he will not fight anytime soon and other than Ward the division is pretty dire, might as well stay in the sports second most glorious division and break records and try to move up in the all time rankings of the division, plus theres some up and coming talent at MW that could challenge GGG in the near future not to mention the winner of Cotto-Canelo would be a big fight and both of them have said they are willing to fight him after they face each other. IMO he would be stupid to move up and i cant understand why someone would want him to move up other than them having some hidden agenda.

Dude's a natural middleweight, and this will be his fifth actively rated top 10 contender he'll have beaten (assuming nothing fluky happens and Rubio doesn't spring the upset).

Business-wise, the biggest fight he can chase right now is the eventual Canelo-Cotto winner. He's better off sticking around at 160 until that fight materializes.

If it doesn't, then moving up may be the better option, but only for the biggest fights. Otherwise, he may as well stick around and carve out a legacy at 160. Perhaps by then Ward will have fixed his promotional issues and may be more willing to negotiate since a GGG fight would revitalize his career...
