Which one of the current champs do you think he'd do best against?

Maskaev & Peter are gonna fight & lets just say that Maskaev beats that chump.

    So AG can pick from:

    Wlad
    Ibragimov
    Chagaev
    Maskaev

    :huh

    Thats the direction I'm leaning.

But I'd HATE to see that fight!

I like Maskaev alot & wouldn't want this fight to happen.:bart

I'd rather see him fight the little Chagaev. Just watch out for those left hand leads, Andrezj!

    :yikes

He stands his best chance beating:

    Maskaev
    Ibragimov
    Chagaev
    Wlad

I def think he could take out Maskaev. I think the question is ...who would he stand a better chance in beating Ibragimov or Chagaev? Wlad would send him to retirement.

That's a loaded question. Look, getting rocked by Kevin McBride does not bode well for your title chances. Golota simply doesn't a deserve a title shot and he simply will never be champion even if he gets one. It's over for him.

Maskaev is the oldest fighter from mentioned above and that's very important considering Golota's age. Maskaev is a solid fighter but he's slow and won't be able to outwork Andrew. Speed and workrate are clues when an older fighter steps into the ring. I wouldn't want to see AG - Chagaev. Ruslan would pick his spots and win that fight with his movement and footwork. We know that Andrew's legs are gone.

He can beat any of them except Wlad (whom he'd almost certainly lose against). Maskaev is the easiest of those, but I suspect Peter will beat Maskaev, and although I think Golota would have a shot against Peter, I think Ibragimov and Chagaev are easier targets.

Did you see the WHOLE McBride fight? I did, & Golota didn't look too bad. And surprisingly, neither did Kevin. He trained hard for the fight & really tried, until he got a bit gassed & AG busted up his face. I mean, your talking about a 6'-6", 290 lb guy swinging away at AG & he was rattled a few times, but never seriously hurt.

I think its unfair that you don't at least give him a slight chance to pound on one of these Champs. Stranger **** has happened in the ring.

The question is, why would we expect Golota to beat any of them? I don't know if it's the opponent that is Golota's biggest obstacle in a title fight, or the big stage itself. He seems to melt down when he's under that kind of pressure. The opponent might be secondary. He's been blown out when it appeared that he was overwhelmed by the situation (Lewis, Brewster, etc.) and thrown away fights when he was ahead (Bowe). Nothing against Andrew, but I don't know why anyone would believe he has changed, based on wins over Bates and McBride.

Your absolutely right. Golota's biggest obstacle is himself. I try to forget that stuff & be positive about the matter.

Us long time Golota fans are hoping that AG has finally entered his "mental prime" & that he'll be able to overcome his jitters.

Oleg Maskaev, although I would pick Maskaev by KO.

Wlad is out, too big a puncher. Peter/Maskaev should be out as well, because you could see them starting quick and throwing bombs.

Chagaev or Sultan would seem therefore to be more likely. The problem for Golota there is that both guys are skilled boxers, and Golota's jab just isn't what it was (and what it needs to be) since that crash in '99.

    A difficult one.

In terms of physical skill, prime Golota was better than a lot of heavyweight title holders.

Props to you and the rest of the Golotans (just made that up) for your support of your favorite boxer. :good

Yeah, its been a long, bumpy road & to be honest, I'm kinda amazed that we're still even talking about him.
