Were all in their peak (well, GGG might be but the others aren't. Was also a damn shame that AA & Pavlik never happened) and competing in the MW Division right now, would the division look different now or not? Would GGG still be on top or not? Who do you rate as the hardest puncher of the three? And in what order would you put them? And in what order would you put them in terms of ranking? Ie: If they was all competing, what would your rankings look like?
GGG = Real. Abraham + Pavlik = Hype. Just watch them fight. 1. GGG . ... .... ..... ...... 2. Pavlik 3. Abraham
Pavlik and Abraham were both legitimately world class, brave big punchers at their peaks. Neither of them would have had a hope of beating Golovkin. He's phenomenal, a once-in-a-generation type fighting machine. Can't wait till he fights somebody who can push him into 4th gear, because i don't think people have seen him at his best yet.
Pavlik should've never fought Hopkins. I don't think I've ever seen one fighter's career get derailed this much after one fight (without suffering some injury). Pavlik was still a big, strong MW with a decent jab and a heck of a 1-2.
I would not disrespect the man, but Pavlik gets a lot of overhype around here. I assume it's because he is one of the best wins of the really overhyped Maravilla.
I believe Pavlik was derailed by substance abuse. It undermines everything you do and probably especially if you are an athlete. Of the three, ALL of them have/had a big punch, but I think GGG knows more about timing and placement- so is more effective.
True. But fighting the ultimate style mis-match in Hopkins was a huge mistake in hindsight. If there was anyone in history who can make a guy like Pavlik look awful, it was Hopkins. I mean Hopkins could've beaten Pavlik with one hand tied behind his back that night and I'm being dead serious.
I don't know about that. AA had just as much power as GGG and is tough as old boots (see the fight with Miranda where he gets his jaw broken and carries on). Pavlik was teak-togh as well. See Taylor I. He took a shellacking and came back and stopped him, and JT was no slouch.
