A reasonable, basic level ****ysis. But you have to consider, we as Brits thought the same when he fought Carl Froch and he made him look daft. Mikkel Kessler too. Golovkin would do well to see the final bell tbh. Not through a KO, but similar to Chisora retiring vs Fury in a world title eliminator as he couldn't land a punch and was being very slowly, gradually busted up ...
that's a quite complex formula GGG is late 33 vs Lemiuex. His next fight, whoever his opponent, is as a 34 year old :good If Golovkin wins two rounds vs Ward, then I for one, think he should get a Special badge of some sort, as a positive memory ...
Question is... should Ward get credit for beating a past prime/aging Golovkin? I mean he's nearing 34 already, he's not in his prime anymore.
in early 2013 didn't Andre Ward send out a Tweet saying that he would go down to 160 to fight Floyd? It was after Floyd said that he had been sparring with middleweights!
I always favored Ward heavily in that match up. But Ward inactivity will catch up with him eventually. I thought he didn't look all that great against Smith. He doesn't have a fight scheduled at the moment. If he keeps that up for another year I would favor Golovkin by UD or late KO.
How could one not look good against a heavy bag that circles in slow motion. Ward looked starched at 172 and I really don't think that he will fight at 168 anymore. During the Dawson fight people got the impression that Ward is a monster puncher. But everybody know that the first sign of a drained fighter in the ring is punch resistance. Dawson had none and was lethargic. In reality the only guy on Ward's resume that is top level and in shape was Carl Froch. And just having that name on your resume will make you the next TBE?
I am guessing you mean May 2016. If that were to happen it seems unlikely for Ward to get a 2nd tuneup fight in that time frame, I think GGG wins easy against a super rusty Andre Ward.
Duva has been working on a fight between Kovalev and Ward, but Ward would have to gain 3 lbs., he would weight 200 lbs. for that fight...................Stevenson is still there waiting to fight Ward, but Ward refuses to fight Ward........................after Lemieux, Golovkin will fight the winner of the Cotto/Alvarez fight, then Andy Lee.................Ward can stay out in the streets and call out light weights.....................Ward wants Ricardo Lopez to come out of retirement ASAP..............................Golovkin will do what's best for his career and he can beat Ward.........................Ward's fans will be surprised if that ever happens, but Ward can't get past Kovalev, Stevenson or Beterbiev, not to mention others...................
If it goes to the cards I would say 6 to 8 rounds. At early I can see Ward winning rounds by smothering and jabing but eventually his stamina issues come to play. At the same time, GGG will preasure hard and wins some rounds at the first half but the second half is all him. There is a big chance fight wont last 12 rounds..
To my mind this is almost impossible to predict, simply because we really have no clear idea of GGGs skill ceiling. I don't think I'm going out on too much of a limb if I posit that technically Golovkin is a more refined boxer than the likes of Froch, Kessler, Bika or Abraham.
I don't think he should. After Ward shuts out GGG, I think we would all agree that GGG was way overrated.
