There's no money in fighting bums and Golovkin doens't need a tuneup now -- HE WAS PREPARING TO FIGHT CLENELO. I will lose almost all respect to him if he fights god knows who now...
When the book is closed on GGG, a W over Canelo (if he could register it) would likely stand as his career-defining result. As career-defining results go, hanging his hat on battling past a B+ operator caught between weight classes is still not that impressive when you consider that Golovkin was sold to us as future ATG material, but it's a genuinely solid win and gives his CV a certain substance it's been lacking. He needs Canelo, not just for economic reasons, but in order to establish some modest legacy beyond that record of successive ho-hum defenses. If this fight is nixed, it's a greater loss to him than to Canelo, whose career has room to bounce back after he returns from any sanctions that may be imposed upon him.
Right now everything points to Canelo getting suspended for a year, minus 6 months for good behavior (cooperating with the investigation). So the NSAC can act like they don't bend over for the big money all the time and have a "firm" stance on PED's. Although I know they would "forget" about their own rules when us suits them, they kinda painted themselves in a corner in this case and will look absolutely silly when they let Canelo walk without at least a token, half assed ban that wouldn't impact his career too much.
I don't trust the NSAC as far as I can throw them, I doubt they care that much about their public image either, it's all just for show.
Let's wait and see what happens. I won't be happy with a tomato can either. The worst acceptable opponent is Spike.
That sounds like a plan as long as GGG is warmed up by throwing a kitted up Isal over the top rope for GGG to use as an appetiser...this how it would go... This content is protected
Hang on Carlos takam took on Joshua @ 3 weeks notice so why not the amazingly fantastic fighter that is Charlo? Where is he ,all the Mowt a few weeks back when he knew GGG is tied to Alvarez for this & possibly the next fight but now he's a shot where is he ....go look under his Mom's bed...he needs the money after he was bum rushed & had his purse stolen lol
I would imagine if it is cancelled due to substance abuse I would guess the GGG camp have pretty strong case to sue Alavarez for the loss of earning aka the contract ?
And why should GGG take the blame for Canelo's cheating? With HBO's H1 calendar set, two weeks between the hearing and May 5 and the the September rematch looming, there' so much team GGG can do. If you haven't lost all respect to Clenelo, consider this: they've been aware of the positive tests since February and the letter was in the NSAC anti-doping regulation that a MANDATORY BAN is coming irregardless how clenbuterol entered his body. Therefore Team Clenelo knew that the May 5 is simply IMPOSSIBLE to happen. ú And Clenelo still hasn't cancelled the fight, leaving GGG contractually obligated until the April 18 mandatory suspension, therefore he can't sign another contract. This is all on Clenelo, and the way he's dragging it out, hurting GGG's career, I hope he gets the full 2-year ban to learn some respect.
