If Golovkin's PPV is a success

in canada alone the Lemiux fight is super big

but he doesnt curse or talk thrash enough like boring floyd to sell fights. Lotta ppv's are sold in the press conferences & bad boy image etc

You don't need to trash talk to sell fights. If you're an exciting fighter, it sells itself. The reason FM trash talks is because that's the way to entice fans with the "excitement" factor. He can't do it in the ring, so he does it outside. Golovkin does it in the ring. As does Pacquiao.

It would be awesome if GGG did though. They say he does when he speaks in his native tongue. That apparently he's much more bold in his words and even cοcky.

 

They can sell 150k and be profitable, according to Large Dan. Of course, it'll take far more than 150k for him to have any negotiating clout with Cotto or Canelo, but the GGG PPV experiment can continue with a pretty low buy in.

With a breakeven in the low 100's, 300k would be a home run for the promotion.

 

I think Lara is an obvious next BIG NAME opponent should the story of Canelo Cotto turn into something of an epic, tying one another up for the next 2 yrs.

I'd love to see GGG vs Ward so long as Ward agreed to one of the 3 original offers, 164(50/50), 180 rehyd, $250K/lb and random VADA or 166 55/45, 180, $250K/lb, and testing or 168, 60/40 with the same 3 stipulations.

All of course contingent upon a guaranteed check in the amount of 8 mil into GGGs account. Meaning, Oakland would be out of the question, and Roc would have to promote the event with little to no financial burden(outside testing, which Loefler said he(K2) would pay for in every instance). :think

 

I think anything over 300k will be a HUGE success for GGG.

If it does 500K it's a MONSTER success.

If it does 300K it'd be widely considered a success, since it would pay GGG in excess of 8 mil and Lemiuex in excess of 5 mil.

Those are estimates based off similar #s generated by other fighters with similar contract guarantees.

Now.....if it does 500K, imagine that GGG and Lemiuex will be splitting an extra $8 mil, meaning GGG would make and estimated $13 mil for the fight and Lemiuex an estimated $9 mil.

If $9 mil bucks dont lure someone like Saunders/Lee/Quillin/Jacobs/Eubank Jr/Lara/Andrade/Martirosyan/Ward/Abe/GG/DeGale etc etc etc , they might as well call it a career.

The difference is that Pacquiao's team was actually making offers, negotiating with, and communicating with Mayweather's team and they eventually fought. Ward's team has made exactly zero offers or negotiations with Golovkin's team. See the difference? If your serious about making a fight, you go after it with offers and negotiations, not Twitter and reporter talk. That's just talk, not a serious effort. So how exactly can you duck a guy making absolutely zero serious effort to actually fight you? It's ignorant. Ward's team needs to put some pressure on with actual offers and negotiations and keep the fans and media aware of what they are offering and what's being turned down and let the fans decide if the offers are good and who ducking. Then we will know they are seriously pursuing the fight. Empty talk to reporters or Tweets don't qualify. We were always aware of what was being offered to who in the May-Pac talks over the years: "the 40 million", etc. Right?

 

You are BEYOND delusional. GGG is now where close to being as popular as either one of those fighters. Most still don't know who the hell he even is. Him becoming a PPV draw will turn him from a "boogeyman" to a guy with a bullseye target on his back.

Guys who become big PPV draws, regardless of how great and unbeatable they look, become very lucrative to all the top contenders.

I still have my doubts that he can ascend to that level, primarily due to his personality outside of the ring.

 

You should actually have worded the question, If Lemeux's PPV is a success... Any numbers that this PPV does, is 95% due to Lemeux's fanbase.
