I think Pryor would hound Mayweather into a fight, something Pacquiao was supposed to do. The one time Pacquiao hurt Mayweather he ran for cover. There was no cover against Pryor; he made you fight.

If and when Pryor hurt Mayweather he wouldn't back off like Pacquiao did, he'd be on him like a rash and he'd be ready to do it again the next round.

Hearns would kayo Mayweather and I would give a prime Duran a 50-50 chance at least.

Leonard is a better all round fighter than Mayweather. He outboxed a great boxer in Benitez and outpunched him, too. I'm sure if Leonard had wanted to be totally defensive he could have managed it, but he liked to fight!

Mayweather is obviously a fabulous talent, but there was a wealth of talent in the 80's.

SRL beats Mayweather, Hearns possibly stops Mayweather, Duran loses to Mayweather, Pryor gets beat by Mayweather in one of the fights of the century.

Pacquaio would have to try and commit suicide to hit Hearns but if he does, perhaps he could shock the world. I can't pick between him and Duran. He loses to SRL and probably loses to Hearns but has the punchers chance. He stops Pryor.

Duran was at his best a light weight. Here he was an ATG who just overwhelmed his opponents with a non stop attack of Ko punches. At welter still a great fighter but Certainly not as great. The way to beat Duran was to cleverly outbox him so you need to at least think a great boxer may be able to do so.

A great boxer at 135 ain't beating Duran. A great boxer at 147 and above might well do, and in fact did.

Exactly how I see it.throw in benitez and palomino from a couple of years earlier and that's a hell of a talent pool.

I don't think anyone is beating Duran at 135, the one with the best chance is probably Whitaker, but even he would loose. I also don't think many in history, and none of the current fighters, could beat the Duran of Montreal at 147.

Funny thing is he may even have been better, or as good, in the Palomino fight.

Steve Farhood, a boxing reporter/announcer, was flabbergasted after this fight. He said, Palomino was one of his favourite fighters, close to an ATG and Duran made him look like an amateur. He also said he never seen a fighter twitch and jerk around because of all the feints Duran was throwing, as Palomino was scared to get hit with those wicked body shots Duran was throwing.

Yep, he certainly did lay a beating on Carlos. So frustrating though when the couldn't be bothered with preparation version turned up as far as I'm concerned. Still that was Duran, just got to accept him for what he was.

I think Duran excels anytime at LW.

Hearns would be the most avoided man at 147 modern day.

    Leonard would excel as well

I don't think Hagler has the same success at MW. Fun fighter, heavy handed southpaw, but I could easily see him being outpunched by Golovkin

Please folks, do not rule out GGG as possibly an alltime great middleweight who would give any MW in modern times a helluva fight. This Golovkin is not your ordinary slugger but a thoughtful thinker who conserves his energy by not wasting punches and is a great body puncher can throw powerful punches from any angle that say's TIMBERRR...And combine this offense with a chin
like iron who in over 330 amateur and pro fights, GGG has never been floored. Golovkin might be the real goods...

Wow, it have been fun with lots of great fights! I still think all four would be champions.

Someone mentioned Aaron Pryor, he would have given Floyd and Manny all they could handle.

GGG against Hagler would have been a war. Hagler could take a helluva punch and keep coming, I think Hagler stops him late.

I think Leonard beats Floyd and Manny at 147. I think Duran beats Floyd and Manny at 135. Hearns loses to Floyd but KOs Manny at 147 - too big.

Boxing has moved on since the 80s.Become more technical and sports science focused.

i doubt any of these 4 would be able to go a hard 12 with a current day top ten contender.

Yeah, that's really all that Hagler was  Imo, that's total disrespect towards a top3/5 MW of all-time.
Marvelous would be the #1 middleweight boxer today. I really like Golovkin but I can't see him beating Marvin more than the other way around, no way. And tripleG still has a lot to prove.
