This guy was taken to a draw by an injured JP Mendy just last year. Mendy was a fringe top 20 SMW, not a bad fighter but hardly close to being elite. As was reported on the Euro forum, Mendy was injured and pretty much unable to train/run until about 3 weeks before the fight, and most people still thought he beat Hanshaw, in his own backyard. If Roy loses, Hanshaw will be more marketable after beating a name, but that doesn't mean he will become a good fighter all of a sudden.
a) Mendy looked plenty healthy to me. b) I had Hanshaw winning that fight. c) Don't try to discredit Tony just because you don't like Roy. I don't care about Roy at all, but this is a big name win for a talented hardworking kid, especially a not-very-big SMW moving up in weight to take on the former p4p #1. Don't try to diminish it.
It'd be a real pity to see RJJ win this one. Especially by KO. It would convince him to fight on when he should really retire. He's destroying his body with this crap. Not a fan of Hanshaw's, but i'd like to see him win this one convincingly.
Why not a fan? He's a slick mover, punches with authority, possesses great ring intelligence. What's to dislike?
Sorry, I didn't mean to come across as if I actually dislike him. Just haven't seen enough of him, only glimpses here and there. I'td be a good name to have on his resume and all the best to him. It's just sad for RJJ, win or lose. Man should be retired.
Why would I be discrediting him even if I didn't like Roy? :huh I'm saying if he wins, it changes noithing. He was still held to a draw by an older injured French fighter in his own backyard. He's not close to being world class, period. If Roy wins I'll give him props for beating a much younger fighter. And Mendy's injury is common knowledge, you can ask Fitir from the Euro forum on the matter, it was reported 3-4 weeks before his fight with Hanshaw. I believe Mendy even had surgery less than 2 months before the fight.
No actually Hanshaw was robbed get your facts straight. And Mendy is a prospect(although an old one) on the rise.
Robbed in his own backyard, by his own promoter, in his own promoter's tournament? Get off the American fighter's nuts for once. :rofl
Roy lays on the ropes for half the fight and Hanshaw does nothing but smack his elbows. Told you guys he didn't have it. :deal PS props to Roy for beating a younger-up-and-comer. :yep
Pretty big disparity on the judges' cards, was it close or wide? And was the fight entertaining enough to hunt down a download of? That one guy's round by round sounded as though it might have been.
