If Hanshaw wins, don't get too excited

Mendy had surgery because of a cyst. He wanted the fight to be postponed but it was impossible, the rules of the tournament were clear and the semi finalist Buchanan would have fought Hanshaw instead. Mendy fought. His coach was in France (if you watched the fight you noticed that the guy in his corner was the boxer Fred Klose), he has no promoter (Gaide is not a promoter : he has one boxer under contract and no $$$) and he had no camp : Mendy sparred with 2 light middle of his club "Les Gants Lucéens". OK you have to be ready for a title fight but it's easier if you have a team and a promoter.
The tournament was promoted by Shaw who is Hanshaw's manager... Hanshaw had obtained everything to win : training camp of a world champ with 3 good southpaw as sparring partners (Harmon , Stewart, Cooper), a good match plan by Russell, hype on Showtime. You really think Hanshaw was robbed ? It's a joke.
After his good amateur career (5 times french champ, 2 X bronze medalist at the world championships, bronze medallist at the euro championships, silver medallist at the goodwill games beaten for 1 point by the 2 times olympic champion...) Mendy has been robbed of his pro career cause Acaries chose Sahnoune and Chanet who were more maketable.
Mendy wanted the rematch with Hanshaw. He could fight Oganov.

It was close actually, only because Roy did nothing for periods of up to two minutes at a time.

I wouldn't DL it unless you're a really big Roy fan. The KD in the eleventh was pretty sweet though, RJJ showed real flashes of his former self for a while there...then it was back to potshotting and laying on the ropes.

I'm not a really big Roy fan. Pretty big Hanshaw fan though. Was his performance one to be proud of?

He didn't hold back, like most fighters facing RJJ do. He gave it his all. At 175 though, he didn't exactly have much to give...he's still lacking in the experience departmant as well.

Cool, thanks. I'll look forward to seeing him in the ring with some good SMWs in the near future.
