If Hatton beat Pacquiao and then Marquez at 140 lbs would he have a better claim...

...than anyone else, including Pacquiao and Marquez to be considered the p4p No. 1, in your view, assuming we knew nothing about the level of performance displayed by either in these fights? Please vote in the poll.

The results will be skewed as you have 2 fighters in the same poll option

If "Hatton" gets more votes than the other two options combined, you will be proven right. If he doesn't, then it's not at all obvious he would be considered the p4p No.1, as you suggested.

If he beats (arguably,) the top two pund for pound right now then of course he would have the strongest claim out the three.
Can't see it happening though, even if he beats the pac-man I think Marquez would be more difficult or him style-wise.

I guess there are other factors like if Hattons next opponent after Pac is JMM and he wins, who will Pac fight/beat in that time.

Not exactly accurate if jmm is hattons next fight he will have beaten pacman so nobody that pacman could get a fight with would bring him back up the rankings.

We don't know that until we know Pacs opponent. Are you suggesting his next opponent after Hatton,if he loses will be sub-standard??I think it will be a world level fighter for sure

I am suggesting that if he loses he will not get to fight floyd, cotto or jmm the only fights that could take him back to p4p number 1

I disagree hopkins would not go to number 1 for beating adamek, adamek aint even a p4p top 10 fighter.

It doesn't matter.. its doesn't have to be top 10 p4p fighter ffs to be considered a good win. It's well above his weight and comfort zone. Dawson isn't p4p 10 but if someone beat him isn't that a good win? ....

OK in this scenario he won't get to fight JMM because Hatton would be fighting him.
A fight with Floyd would be unlikely but knowing Floyd, its a fight he'd take.Cotto fight won't happen under any circumstances IMO.But overall,I agree with your statement

Some may have him #2/3 if he loses so a win over a belt holder at 140 may elevate him in the eyes of some

Where have i said it isn't a good win:huh, i don't think its a good enough win for him to be p4p number 1. I think you should read what people write before replying in future.
