If Hatton beats Pac would that make him the P4P best?

its all $$ strategy for oscar and there is nothing to lose for oscar in saying this...if hatton wins then oscar can give the see i told you so speech and set up a huge fight between hatton (gbp fighter mind you) and mayweather b/c you know pbf won't let two guys he beat handily walk around having the last word on whose the p4p king. in the end its about oscar trying to line his pockets

    spot on

dont know why people are getting upset about it - it was obviously always gonna be something used to promote the fight

everyone should get behind pac. who wants to see a hatton mayweather fiasco all over. pacman v prettyboy is the fight every real boxing fan wants to see.

5th IMO behind JMM, Hopkins, Calzaghe and Vasquez

How there's talk of it putting him to P4P no1 from Hatton and DLH I have no idea. Even if he beat Pac and JMM I don't think this should be the case due to:

    * JMM has only had one fight above 130lbs and never fought as high as 140lbs, also
having been down quite a lot at 130.
    * We haven't really seen Pacquiao get caught much above 130lbs, which he's likely to
against Hatton at some points (IMO) as Hatton has under-rated speed.

Several months ago the majority on here felt that Hatton would be too physically strong for Pacquiao, yet after the Oscar fight everyone changed their mind.... (yet did we even see Oscar use his physicality against Pac?)

    50/50 fight though I think.

I don't like the poll options (I always hate when the poll starter adds long lines that don't reflect how I feel). So, I'm not voting, but the answer is "No".

Even if HAtton beat Pacquiao,Mosely,Margarito,Cotto,Marquez you bet someone will say,Moseley had a bad night or Cottos bird ditched him the night before or Marquez is only a natural lightweight whatever excuse will be made to not recognize Hatton as best of all weights because he`s a "Euro"fighter and people don`t like the way he fights lets be honest.

I can't believe the amount saying that it would. No way, how can you not realise it doesn't work like that? What if it's a dodgy decision? What if Pac baloons up and fights a Klitschko? Come on... But maybe ring will make him pound for pound number 1 if he wins and Hatton knows so that is why he is so sure of it? I hope not but I could see why they would for marketability with Hattons great fanbase. He should word it differently and say he is going to "prove" he is pound for pound number 1, not say become or win the P4P title.

Well Hatton was the last man to fight FMJ. He came second. So therefore he was p4p number 2 but as Mayweather retired he now becomes p4p 1. :D

I would presume this is just Hatton trying to give his image and ego a boost and hype this fight and the fight he wants if he wins, Mayweather again.
