If Hatton defeats Floyd, by some miracle, I hope he doesnt retire. I also hope he doesnt go back down to a weak 140 division and fight a few more average opponents and retire with ATG status. Because if he does win dec 8, he does have a legitimate case to retire an ATG, but that would be specious and incomplete reasoning. Nothing in his stand up history suggests that Hatton, will do this, but i still would like to make it clear. I think he will have more to prove if he wants to silence all his detractors. Beating Tszyu and Mayweather will be a big feat but it will be beating two fighters who both show weaknesses to a style that Hatton has in abundance. Wearing out a 35 y.o. Tszyu and making him quit and cramping a boxer like Floyd of all of his moves will show that Hatton is a master tactician yet there needs to be more performances imo to convince me of his greatness. I would like to see him line up against and defeat a Cotto or a Paul Williams after Floyd - a fighter that presents styalistic problems to him - a fighter that can deal with Hattons pressure and really test what he is made of. Id even love to see Haton stand up against Cintron or Margarito. If Hatton does not fight a fighetr like this we wil miss out on seeing a dimension of Hatton that it would be fascinating to see and enriching for his status. Look, this is not criticism, if there is one thing Hatton has never done, it is duck fierce competition. Yet I fear if he beats Mayweather (I dont think he wil) there will be a case to be put forward that Hatton has conquered all there is to conquer in boxing, and I think that case would be flawed. It would be facinating to see him go to war against a Cotto who will test Hatton like no other opponent Hitherto has been able to test him. If Hatton defeats a PBF and then a Cotto, or even a Margarito or Cintron, then he has truely beat allcommers. DLH? This is not a good fight for Hatton. He will lose this fight but DLH is a natural junior welter now and has no business fighting a natural 140 pounder anyway save a pathetic desire to have himself involved in more high profile fights. In sum: Hatton if you defeat Floyd, organise a big event against Cotto, win that and you will go down in history and a top echalon Hall Of Famer.
I know they're all chummy these days, but he'd likely fight DLH, then retire. Regardless of winning or losing. He may even fight DLH after he loses to Floyd, provided he puts up a spirited effort. That's the bad thing about DLH. He has the "thing" of making fighters content to retire after they face him.
That's just common sense. UndeatableFloyd, you see, it's a fight - ANYTHING *CAN* happen in a fight. for example, uncredited as it was, Floyd did touch the canvass with his glove after a right hook early in the Judah fight which should have been called a knockdown. Floyd's only official trip to the canvass was when he broke his hand - BUT - He could also have lost that Judah fight by DQ because his uncle is almost as insane as Norman Stone. The ref had every right to stop the fight as soon as Roger entered the ring. What IF Roger doesn't like Ricky's holding tactics if they begin to work and he enters the ring - It's happened before - Cortez could quite possibly DQ Floyd. It's a fight - ANYTHING can happen.
its impossible that hatton beats cotto... after watching hatton vs collazo.... cotto would obliterate hatton
