Hatton was blown up against Mayweather but Hatton could fight Mayweather at 140 in Hatton's front garden with Ray Hatton as referee and Mayweather would still beat him. I think Floyd's just a cut above.

Have to disagree with your second point though! Hatton is underrated as a boxer. Pre Tszyu his jab was a major tool. Still think his footwork is tremendous and on the inside his angles are brilliant. Yeah he doesnt box in the same way as Mayweather or other technicians but I still think there's a technique to fighting the way Hatton does which often goes unappreciated!

No one's going to let him live down that dramatic loss to Mayweather ... and I don't think he can beat anyone right now.

    Anyone?

I'm assuming you mean anyone in the P4P top ten?

Fair shout, but the only two real people in the top ten he could meet are Cotto and Pac. I agree that Cotto would beat Hatton, but at LWW surely you can see that Hatton would be favourite over a lighter Pac?

No, but if Pac where to beat Hatton I would have no problem ranking him # 1.

While I think he would have been had he beaten Mayweather I don't think he should be if he beats Pac. There's a lot of difference between fighting a P4P #1 moving up and moving up to fight a P4P #1. Also Hatton was undefeated at the time but now he has been stopped.

He would be Top5...but not #1.

    Hatton-Pacquiao reminds me of Hagler-Duran.

:good Good shout - never thought of it like that!

I'm also preparing myself for the abuse you are going to take from those thinking you are comparing Pac to Duran or Hatton to Hagler.

    Should be fun:pop

Ricky could beat Pac, Cotto, Floyd, Sugar Ray Leonard, Larry Holmes, Vladimir Klitschko, and then dig up Ray Robinson and beat him and still wouldn't crack the top five on this forum

No, he will rise in the rankings and Pacquiao will drop, but no way does he boost to #1. Some have to understand that #1 P4P isn't a championship belt.

Exactly. This is why it is usually inherited by the number 2 guy. If the guy who beats the P4P #1 is already top 5 or so then he may well have a case.

Hatton needs to beat Pac and Cotto/Margarito winner to be #1.
