Joe, for **** sake, move away from the keyboard, put down anything that might hurt you, take your meds and call your nurse now...theres a good lad:deal :silly:nut
I know, my favourite is "oh, he won't get beyond european level", always said in a disparaging way....****ing hell, I would have hacked my left knacker off with a blunt pen knife to have been British Champ, never mind European...unrealistic expectations and the magic "0" are to blame
Yeah, I had a little pop at Paul Smith having "found his level" the other day and NEARLY forgot to add that winning a British title was still a great level to have got to.
I think why people say that is because of the amount of fighters both here and in Europe going the interalphabetty route rather than winning the titles. A lot of German-based heavyweights feast on imports from the US rather than working up through the ranks winning the European.... plus there's those silly EBU-EU & EBU-EE titles. Maybe it's just us that consider winning national titles important :think Fighters that hold world titles should be allowed to retain their British titles IMO, so what if the title gets held up. Passing it around to every Tom, Dick and Harry only devalues the thing anyway. Some of the fighters contesting British titles aren't even that good, like you say they have the '0' and that's about it..... whereas others can't get a shot because of promotional issues or ducking.
