If Hatton was to beat Cotto would he deserve a rematch with Floyd?

    Hatton loses to Floyd and Cotto at 140 or 147. Watch the Castillo fight again. He was same fighter in that fight as he was against Mayweather. The only difference is that he fought against a much better fighter. I can't remember the last time Hatton made good use of his jab, he's never had good head movement or defense, and he's always came in with that leaping left hook.

    Hatton is not very good at 147, 140 is the only weight where he is a good fighter, although he was doing OK Vs. Mayweather. I wish the biased referee had not interfered with the fight and the point deduction was uncalled for, did not ever land, laned on the ropes, Hell Peter aims for the back of the head and gets by with it.

    Why even start this thread when Hatton will NEVER go to 147 and fight Cotto.

    Personally I feel Hatton desperately wants a rematch with Mayweather and beating Cotto is one of the few ways he would get any credibility to do such. Its one of the few ways he would be able to reignite public/media interest and generate again the potential revenue needed to fight Floyd. Fighting Witter etc for example isnt going to increase his stock.

    Hattons fights revenue wise are attractive and he may be able to temp Cotto perhaps back down to jr Welter, or a Catchweight..

    If he takes two or three fights at jr Welter and wins them. Sooner or later hes going to be looking for that last real big fight.....Cotto or Mayweather are the only real candidates that fit the bill for this....

    Yes, and this is th only way a rematch would be justified, ie if there was a good argument to be made that Hatton had improved somewhat since the first fight (the first fight was NOT competitive) - a win over Cotto and then a good slickster, perhaps Judah or rematch Collazo and win convincingly, and Hatton would deserve a rematch.

    This wont happen.

    The fight wasn't that competitive. A rematch would actually end with Hatton getting KOed earlier in the fight. Hatton beating Cotto has nothing to do with a rematch with Floyd. Maybe on paper it makes sense, but other than that, it'll be another Hatton beatdown.
