Depends on how. If he goes out and whoops mayweather around the ring yeah. If he's getting beat and pulls off a miracle knockout then he would be top 5 maybe top 3.
Very good question and to be honest, I haven't given it much thought. Probably because I don't give Hatton a good shot at winning. With a win over Mayweather, Hatton would clearly rise above Marquez, Cotto, Hopkins, and Vazquez. There would be cases for Joe Calzaghe and Manny Pacquiao. I would probably put him above Calzaghe because he would have become a multi-division champion beating Tszyu and then Mayweather - both of whom were top 4 or 5 P4P fighters. Pacquiao has a good claim if Mayweather loses, but I'm not sure I would put his wins over Morales, Solis, Larios, and Barrera over Tszyu, Maussa, Collazo, Urango, Castillo, and Mayweather. So, while there is a case for others, to answer your question...yes, I would put him number 1.
This is an odd shout. Why? Calzaghe is a one weight champ with sublime skills who has just beaten the best fighter in the smallest division he can make. Hatton, by contrast, would be a two weight strapholder who has stepped out of his best division, into a division he has trouble with, and beaten the best fighter in the world.
I would probably have it something like this... 1. Hatton 2. Calzaghe 3. Pacquiao 4. Mayweather 5. Cotto 6. Marquez or Hopkins
Nah that's not right . . . If Floyd loses to another Ring belt holder . . . he certainly must move down the list.
I don't even make him the best British fighter at 140lbs, so no. All Witter needs is for Ricky to grow the balls to finally fight him and I would be proven right. So far Wicky has ducked him.
So if Ricky Hatton beats Floyd Mayweather, you will put Junior Witter ahead of him? Based on what? A perceived notion that Hatton is ducking him or his wins over Corley and Harris?
