I find the people who put Calzaghe over Hatton in event of a Hatton win really surprising. Really strange.
If Hatton beats Mayweather I'd have it as 1.Calzaghe 2.Hatton 3.Mayweather 4.Pac The rest.... My reasoning for putting Calzaghe above Hatton is simply that Calzaghe is the better fighter. You only have to watch Hatton or Calzaghe fights to know that. The p4p rankings are there to compare fighters of different weights, using this arguement to say "If Ricky Hatton was a SMW or if Joe Calz was a welterweight who would win?" Joe Calzaghe every single time, he's a better p4p fighter.
If Mayweather loses, I would still not be able to drop him from the top 3. If Hatton wins, then; 1. Calzaghe 2. Hatton 3. Mayweather 4. Manny Man that doesnt look right, good thing it won't happen. Viva Calzaghe.
First of all this doesn't allow for style clashes, intangibles, or any room for the judge (in this case you) to be wrong. "You only have to watch them"? How far does this stretch? If Hatton beats Mayweather, Cotto and Mosley and Calzaghe had never fought Kessler, would you still insist that Calzaghe "looked better" so he was best? This is a composite sport based around achievment. Not gymnastics. Calzaghe boils down to the smallest weight he can possibly get his frame into. He has fought the best fighter in that division. Hatton is a TWO WEIGHT strapholder, and should he win on Sat he will have beaten the best fighter in the world, and outside of his natural division. The equivilant? Calzaghe stepping up to beat Jones at LHW, with Jones taking that fight instead of Ruiz. He's come nowhere near.
Same here 1. Manny Pacquiao 2. Joe Calzaghe 3. Ricky Hatton 4. Floyd Mayweather Jr. 5. Bernard Hopkins If he beats Floyd, but that is a tall mountain to climb, I might throw Cotto in at 5 and put Nard at 6
If Mayweather loses some people on here would still want to rate him higher than Hatton lol......thing is you can't use the unproven, overhyped excuse like with Lacy you'll have to come up with a whole new one. My guess is demand a rematch and if Hatton doesn't agree then he is a ducking Mayweather,or what looks like could be the fave, his hands were hurting him and his Tango messed with his style.
1)Hatton 2)Calzaghe 3)PBF 4)Pac 5)Cotto and thats only because Pac is taking on JMM or else Cotto would have taken him and still could if he loses You got to give Hatton the spot. He would be the only man in the world to beat the p4p champ ever. If Cal was the same size as Floyd, Cal would also get dominated as well. Hatton would have deserved it as that is 2 good fighters and 1 great fighter in a row. You put anybody in the top 5 right now and even out the weight and Floyd beats them. So if Hatton could do it he desrves that slot.
Assuming he wins without controversy. I would have Hatton at 2 behind Pacquiao, with Calzaghe at 3, Hopkins at 4, Cotto at 5, and Floyd at 6. If Pac loses to JMM, Hatton takes top spot and JMM comes in third.
Forgot about JMM. If he wins and FLoyd loses I have it as so 1)Hatton 2)Cal 3)Pbf 4)Cotto 5)Pac 6) dont know...I dont want to put Hopkins there but seems I got too. His fight with Wink did nothing for him because of the weight it was faught at.
He would be # 1 if he beats the current # 1? I don't think so. There is NO SHORT CUT to being the number 1 P4P. If we have that kind of thinking if he becomes # 1 immdediately coz of beating somebody WHO IS on top, WHAT will happen if he Hatton was upset by somebody?! If we follow that kind of thinking, who ever that UNKNOWN boxer becomes the top P4P?! Is that what you are saying?! My critria is you should beat a SEREIS of Top guns in a devastating manner before you become the top p4p!
Hatton will have to fight the judges, referee and media, if he can beat all of them, he could be P4P, but USTV boxing media is way too biased to give Hatton any credit. It's a shame this fight is not on the level, could have been a great fight. I will not waste my money of such a fight. The plan it to keep Hatton from hitting Void Mayweather, and give Void credit for missing punches, judges have already filled out their cards, they are 100% for Void.
