He is moving up a weight class, UP IN WEIGHT, and beating the #1 P4P guy :deal By definition, he has to be #1 pretty much :think

Yes, obviously. If you beat the man you become the man. It's rare that a single fight is for the p-4-p no1 though, hence the confusion with earlier posters who wouldn't make Hatton no1

Not yet. But if Hatton wins in the rematch, yes.

Usually a fight isn't for the P4P title but as Hatton is already rated very highly P4P and is moving up to face the P4P number 1 he'll clearly be number 1 if he wins the fight. Therefore you could say the fight is for the P4P title.

Absolutley not. He would crack my top 5 though.

Ok EDIT: I suppsoe it depends on how he wins. If he wins by CLEAR UD, and outpoints Floyd with ease, than yes I will consider him the best. It he wins by KO, I would have to see a rematch.

I must've been gone when p4p became a ranking system in which a fighter automatically gains the spot of the person he beat. IF Hatton did win that really only indicates he has the style to counter Floyd. Personally I think Hatton would get knocked out fairly quickly if he fought Oscar. Mosley had a similar situation in that he beat Oscar when Oscar had already beaten many of the elite. Shane in comparison ended up having limited success adapting. Mayweather on the other hand has a style that most people would favor over everybody else. On top of that Ricky lacked consistency for the 2+ years since beating Tszyu for me to feel confident he is the numero uno.

I wouldnt make him number 1 i dont think, but it does depend on the manner in which he wins it. Since Pacquiao is facing JMM next, id give him the benefit of the doubt and move him to number 1, with Hatton at 2 then Calzaghe, Mayweather and JMM. It would be something like..

    1. Pacquiao
    2. Hatton
    3. Calzaghe
    4. Mayweather
    5. JMM

    No!!

Hatton need to prove himself if he can fight at WELTERWEIGHT and MIDDLEWEIGHT. Mayweather done that.
