to be an ATG you need to at least beat an ATG in their prime. both Klits are no ATG at this point (if you define ATG as being in the top 100)
You can make a case for Marciano since Jersey Joe Walcott who had his best wins in his late 30's early 40's like Hopkins did was at his best when he fought Marciano recently having beaten Charles. As for who's an ATG Charles was an ATG who fell to Marciano as well. Of course, I won't throw Joe Louis in there he was pretty past it when he fought Marciano.
Wlad and Vlad are great guys, but beating them doesn't automatically propell you into eternal light. They are overachievers during a rather pathetic era of heavyweights.
No because the klits are not very good they are just lucky to be giant men in a period when all the competition there is, are fat overblown lightheavys/cruiser midgets.
Well the Klits sure as hell havent beaten an ATG in their prime, so by your definitions none of them are getting close. I think if he did do it, and it is not completely beyond the realms of possibility, then he would go down as an ATG. You cant really argue with an undisputed CW/HW champion, particulalry in what would amount to way under 30 fights, and the size of the 3 titlists he would have beaten. But, the feat would probably look better on paper. It would say an awful lot more about the dire state of HW boxing if he did this. Haye is a good fighter with some real speed and power. But he really should not be the best contender the HW division can offer, any other era I can think of and he would not be close to the title. In some ways that is a strange statement to make because if he did beat the K's, then he would have had to have shown us more of his talent. But at the same time, the K's shouldnt be losing to any CW champion, huge as they are. Without at least demonstrating how mediocre they are in the process. The hypothetical achievement, simply could not be dismissed, but it would be a real case of right place, right time.
No. You need to get in about guys like Jeffries and Dempsey to be classed as an ATG heavy. That needs a career, not two wonderful wins. But I think beating both would put him in the very next clutch with guys like Schmeling, Walcott, Bowe, Jackson etc.
