Povetkin is very susceptible to the overhand right. He got cracked with it repeatedly against Eddie Chambers, who can't crack an egg. David Haye's best punch is the overhand right. David Haye is a powerful puncher. Haye stoppage
I already did a similar post to this. but the fight will not happen in most peoples eyes and povetkin will loose to wlad in most peoples eyes.So the fight will most prob never happen.
On the other hand Haye stamina may be an issue especially if he weight ~220lb while Povethin have very good one with high workrate. Not mention that Povetkin is quick and have nice skills so it is not obvious Haye would KO him early ... Povetkin is more at Mormeck level than at Bonin.
Unless Povetkin plugs the holes in his style good boxers like Haye will give him a boxing lesson and test his chin. There isn't much chance this fight will happen. Too much risk, too little reward for Povetkin.
Povetkin is nothing close to Mormeck level, who's a B- shaky chinned fighter and is fading. I would favor Povetkin to break him down and stop him in the second half of a tough fight, surviving some big shots. If Haye's chin and stamina ends up significantly improving above CW, then it becomes a pick'em fight.. and the most exciting matchup at HW.
Povetkin gets hit far too much to stay with Haye. To be honest style and size wise Povetkin does not match up well with Haye at all, infact most of what Alex does plays right into Haye's hands. Haye by stoppage
Haye would have the right level fighter to test himself in the HW division...if he can't beat Povetkin, he ought just stay at Cruiser. But, he would in a late round KO or TKO. Then, it would on to big time fight between him and Wlad.
Both fighters are good but Povetkin, who is still young, still has holes in his technique. I think Haye would KO Povetkin but in a close fight in which Povetkins stamina would be a big issue in the outcome.
Funny all these people picking Haye to win by stoppage. Mind you that Chambers is a faster puncher than Haye, and a much better defense fighter, hence Povetkin getting hit more often than he had before (however not with the stunning regularity some of you are making it out to be). Also, it seems many of you are ignoring Haye's fights with Fragomeni and Mormeck, where slower, smaller, lighter hitting guys than Povetkin were able to land consistently and even drop Haye. Povetkin by mid-round stoppage.
Plus in both the Mormeck and Fragomeni fights Haye had to unload a lot of leather to stop either guy, with both succumbing more to exhaustion then his sheer power. I think too many people are overrating Haye's punch at heavy based off of the fight with Macca, who was known to by chinny.
