would he be more polished has a fighter?
How much has inactivity hindered him?
When i think back about his fight's at heavy, he as always been sloppy and lacking technical ability.
No doubt he is slippery and awkward to hit, but apart from his single shots he doesn't have too much variation in his work.
Would fighting more have helped him develop into a better fighter than he is today?
Have his smash and grab tactics on the sport, stopped him from realising his full potential has a fighter?

In my opinion, they were thin margins, land a punch or two more in those rounds and he skates it.

I ain't talking about tonite mate. I mean Haye as a fighter overall.
Has inactivity hindered his progress, and his ability to learn and adapt in fights. Becoming more seasoned if you will.
Or is he simply just not capable of throwing more or showing different looks.

Well I think the step up to HW made a big impact on his work rate and activity.

It's no secret that folk have been commenting on him 'blowing out of his a***' at HW.

True. Do you not think fighting more could have helped him though. I mean his never been the most active of fighters since he turned pro.
He has been pro for 9 years, is only 30 and hasn't even had 30 fights. You need to be more active to get seasoned, and learn as many tricks as possible.

He was quite explosive at cruiser and really went for his punches. At heavy he seems to get intimidated by size and by the potential power his opponents have. He went for some big punches vs Ruiz and Barrett, but hardly dared to throw his famous Hayemakers against Valuev and Klitschko.

That was pretty much his bread and butter at cruiser, and is one of the main differences in heavy. Also, his jab isn't reaching the bigger guys at heavy, which means his activity ends up going down.

The strange thing was after it was all said and done, his chin wasn't the problem.

The whole glass jaw thing was bollocks. It was always because of the temple shots.

I agree with everything your saying.
I think him being a more active fighter at heavy would have learned Haye more about himself at that weight. Rather than fighting with a damage limitation mindset. Maybe some blame should lay at Booths door. Does he not have faith in his fighters toughness, which really you only get from fighting. It's becoming a regular thing Booth sending his men out with negative tactics. Saying that, i understand sort of why Haye was negative last night, not many people give him a chance of seeing the distance.

I said the exact same thing to someone last night.

Fully agreed. I said this after the Valuev fight. Booth was being too negative in the corner during the fight and discouraging Haye from trading blows with Valuev (and when he finally went for him in the 12th he almost put Valuev down!).

I think Haye genuinely wants to fight like he did at cruiser, but Booth isn't having any of it and maybe against Wladimir Haye wasn't too confident of opening up either. Klitschko is a very strong fighter, everyone knows it. His jab alone is enough to intimidate his opponents, which is why most of them prefer to see out the fight safely rather than to risk taking a straight right.

Yeah it's understandable the tentativeness against Wlad. If Haye fights on maybe himself and Booth will have more confidence in his ability to take a shot at heavy, after him taking some tasty ones last night that most didn't believe he could.
On topic though i still think he would have been a better fighter with more tricks had he been more active in his career.
Nice v-cash total. Did you bet big last night?

If Haye was more active he'd get knocked out. You see that's his real problem - for all his bluster he just knows he's not hard enough to risk leaving himself exposed against a true heavyweight.
