If Haye was to retire tonight.....

    Who would have down as having the better career ?

    Joe Calzaghe vs David Haye ?

    Would David's two wins at Heavy (Valuev + Ruiz) be better than Joe's at Light Heavy (Jones + Hopkins)

    Does Joes succesful defences against Kessler and Lacy trump Hayes against Mormic and Maccarenelli ?

    Do you consider the fact that Haye won both his first world titles in each respective divison in his opponents backyard better than the fact Joe remained undefeated (Ableit against poor Opposition sometimes) for such a long time ?

    Does Haye's defeat against Thompson let him down here or does Joe's lack of travelling and dangerous opposition let him down ?

    I feel if Haye beats Wlad he surpasses Calzaghe's legacy with ease but what about now ????

    Haye would fall short mate if he stopped tonight.

    I see where you're coming from but Haye is still a bit behind. For me he'd have to beat both Klits and Adamek or someone like that to possibly match him.

    Mormeck was a bit past it, the great thing about that victory was doing it away from home and coming off the deck and showing smartness. Rather than Mormeck being great. And thats his best win. Maccarinelli is a bit worthless, that wins even more devalued than Lacy which I thought impossible.

    Ruiz and Valuev are okay but neither are better than Hopkins.

    I can see why people would say Calzaghe but for me if he beat ONE Klit i'd have him a fair distance above Joe :good

    Mormec (In France) and Enzo aren't that far behind Kessler and Lacy in terms of how good a win they were. Kessler win was avery good one I'll admit

    Valuev (In Germany) and Ruiz are probably on par with Hopkins and Jones (Both in the states) too.

    Calzaghe has more 'average' wins no doubt but beating Wlad would eclipse anything Joe did IMO by a HUGE margin.

    By the way I think Haye's getting beat by Wlad anyway :good

    Calzaghe, but not by much.

    If Haye packed it in now he'd be remembered much the same as Calzaghe really, a guy who wasted his prime - but instead of fighting bums he'd been running his mouth.

    Yep, you could match the names any reasonable way and it will always come out Calzaghe.

    Add a Klit to the mix and it gets more interesting.

    Hmmmm....

    See for me best wins are Kessler-Valuev. Is the Kessler win in Wales that much better than beating a World Champ in his home town being HEAVILY outweighed and having a lesser reach etc etc

    Kessler is better than Valuev no doubt but Haye had everything stacked against him barring speed

    Good way of settling the argument.

    Quite clearly Calzaghe at the moment. Take into account that the majority on here (Brit and General forum) had Calzaghe as borderline top 100 all-time when he retired, then Haye still has a way to go. A Klit or two on the record will certainly shake things up though.

    You can look at it in different ways I guess. Valuev was old, beaten before, had dubious decisions against Holyfield, Ruiz etc. Kessler was in his prime, unbeaten, only 2nd to Calzaghe in the division. Haye won a close, but clear, decision. Calzaghe after a even 4-5 rounds took over and dominated to win a convincing decision.

    I just personally feel that Kessler was a better win than Valuev :good
